The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, a MMI Hotel Group property, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Chef Chris Johnson as the new executive chef. Chef Johnson will lead the culinary team for the resort’s signature restaurant, ECHO, as well as banquet dining and other outlets across the campus. His arrival marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the resort, with an emphasis on elevating the resort’s culinary presentation across the board.

Chef Johnson first discovered his passion for the food and beverage industry at fourteen, gaining extensive experience working in restaurants and resorts nationwide over the last several decades. From Italian and Mediterranean cuisine to French-Asian fusion and Floribbean flavors, Chef Johnson has honed his skills across multiple culinary styles, many of which emphasize seafood, making him the ideal candidate for ECHO’s lauded coastal Southern flair. Chef Johnson’s career includes prestigious positions at luxury brands such as The Ritz-Carlton, where he was introduced to Forbes 5-star service standards, which he continued to develop at properties like EAU Palm Beach and Sea Island Resorts. These experiences shaped his dedication to high-quality service and culinary excellence.

Chef Johnson’s leadership style emphasizes teaching and collaboration, and he looks forward to working closely with his team to create exceptional dining experiences for guests. In addition to overseeing ECHO’s menu, Chef Johnson will be instrumental in expanding the resort’s banquet offerings, a new challenge that he embraces with enthusiasm.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to grow our banquet department while continuing to enhance the resort’s dining options,” Chef Johnson continued. “The first job of a chef is to be a teacher. Learning, teaching, and growing with my team is truly rewarding. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside some incredible chefs and teams throughout my career, and the lessons I’ve learned about humility and passion are ones I carry with me every day ”

Resort General Manager Bart Johnson welcomes Chef Johnson to The King and Prince family: “Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our culinary team. His commitment to quality, creativity, and fostering a collaborative kitchen environment is exactly what we were looking for in our next executive chef.”

Loyal patrons and newcomers alike can look forward to exciting new offerings inspired by Chef Johnson’s diverse culinary background, commitment to local ingredients, and extensive experience providing exceptional service.
