The company has already met its 2025 opening schedule, including new properties in the United States, Aruba, and Tunisia. Additionally, Iberostar’s investment strategy for the year includes €210 million focused on renovations, repositioning, and improving guest offerings across its existing properties, alongside expansion into new regions such as the Indian Ocean and East Africa.

Notably, Iberostar is exploring expansion in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and potential new markets in East Africa and the Indian Ocean. This expansion plan includes the luxury-focused JOIA by Iberostar brand, which debuted in 2024 with the opening of its first hotel in Aruba. Further transformations of existing properties in Jamaica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic are also in progress, marking a repositioning effort aimed at enhancing services and creating unique experiences for guests.

We’re planning five to ten new openings a year – Phil Mc Aveety, CEO of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has expanded its presence in the Balearic Islands with the opening of the Iberostar Selection Es Trenc in Colònia de Sant Jordi, Mallorca. This 5-star property, which commenced operations in April 2025, has undergone a comprehensive renovation, transforming the former THB Mallorca Sur into a beachfront resort. Each of the 100 rooms and the 45 suites offers sea views and private terraces, aligning with Iberostar’s commitment to providing premium accommodations in prime locations. The design incorporates Mediterranean elements, reflecting the local culture and environment.

Facilities at Iberostar Selection Es Trenc include two swimming pools, a rooftop terrace with panoramic sea views, a fitness center, and wellness services such as massages and beauty treatments. The gastronomic offerings feature a buffet restaurant and the Salivent à la carte restaurant, emphasizing local and responsibly sourced ingredients. Additionally, the hotel provides guests with complimentary bicycles to explore the surrounding area.

In addition to new projects, Iberostar is focusing on the renovation of several properties in its European and Caribbean portfolio. Significant renovations are underway at several Spanish locations, including the Iberostar Selection Palace Fuerteventura and the Waves Pinos Park hotel in Mallorca. The company also plans a major remodeling of its hotels in Mexico, with work slated to begin in 2026.

With a strong pipeline of new developments and continued investments in both management agreements and owned properties, Iberostar remains committed to strengthening its brand and increasing its footprint in competitive global markets.
