Pierre Beckerich’s Euragone and Jean-Baptiste Pracca’s Mata Capital, a property fund with 2 billion in assets under management, have formed a joint venture, Yoomata Aldgate Property Ltd, which has acquired Challenger House. This building in Whitechapel, in London’s East End, near the Tower of London, is home to the 180-room Corner Hotel.
The deal has been announced at nearly €50 million, an initial investment that prefigures the transformation of the existing hotel into Yooma Urban Lodge London. It will also be able to take advantage of a vacant site next to the existing buildings.
This is the third development of the concept, a pioneer in the hybrid approach, inaugurated at Paris Beaugrenelle in 2017 and extended by the Yooma Urban Lodge in Brussels, dedicated to comic strips.
An urban concept, it is dedicated to welcoming families, groups and individuals in rooms of very different types. The idea is also to offer an immersive experience through activities organised within the hotel itself, such as cookery classes in Paris and arcade games in Brussels, not forgetting a wellness dimension through the spa.
