BH Group has acquired the Burlington Hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex, for an undisclosed sum, as part of a multi-property deal arranged by Christie and Co on behalf of Coast and Country Hotels.
The sale also includes the Imperial Hotel in Exmouth, the St Ives Bay Hotel, the Ship and Castle Hotel in St Mawes, Cornwall, and the Windermere Hotel in Cumbria.
The Burlington is a Grade II‑listed Victorian hotel overlooking Eastbourne’s seafront and the Carpet Gardens.
The property comprises 159 ensuite bedrooms, including standard singles, doubles, twins, sea‑view rooms and superior sea‑view twins.
Guest rooms feature flat‑screen TVs, heating, private bathrooms, hairdryers and tea‑and‑coffee making facilities.
Additional amenities include a restaurant, bar and lounge serving European cuisine, burgers and steaks, plus an informal coffee lounge; afternoon tea is offered by reservation on the terrace when weather permits.
James Routledge, chief investment officer at BH Group, said: “These hotels form the basis of our drive into the growing stay‑cation market. We are excited by these opportunities and others we are currently seeing in the market.”
Ed Bellfield, regional director – hotels at Christie and Co, added: “We are delighted to announce the sale of the Burlington Hotel in Eastbourne to BH Hotels. This latest transaction takes us to a total of 31 successfully completed Coast and Country sales to a wide range of buyers.
“We know the new owners have very exciting plans for these hotels moving forward. Despite well‑publicised challenges in the hospitality sector, buyer demand for hotels remains buoyant across the UK, with buyers keen to acquire good quality hotel opportunities.”
