The George Hotel, a freehold hotel in Montrose town centre, has been sold for the first time in 30 years to a private operator for an undisclosed price.
With 25 en suite bedrooms, a restaurant, a lounge and a function room, The George Hotel had been owned by Patricia Douglas for over 30 years and was sold to allow her to retire and spend time travelling.
The hotel also features a lounge bar and restaurant with a function room which can be used for business meetings or training courses. It also has concierge and laundry services on-site as well as room service and coffee making facilities.
Douglas said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to own The George for 35 years, and may I take this opportunity to wish the new owners well. A huge thank you to my staff who have been amazing, to all the customers who have been so loyal for many years, and not forgetting our local suppliers. Thank you all.”
Simon Watson, business agent at Christie and Co, added: “I am delighted for Trish that we managed to achieve the sale of the George Hotel. I would like to wish her all the best for the future and equally to the new owner. There is still strong demand for accommodation-led businesses in Scotland.”
