PHD Hotels has acquired the 111-key Aloft Birmingham Soho Square. The sale was brokered by and completed by Hunter Hotel Advisors

“We are proud to welcome the Aloft Birmingham Soho Square into the PHD Hotels portfolio,” said Christopher Chavis, president, PHD Hotels. “This acquisition aligns perfectly with our long-term growth strategy of investing in high-quality, well-located assets in dynamic markets across the Southeast.”

The property is located four miles from downtown Birmingham within the mixed-use Soho Square development, which includes local boutiques and restaurants. Nearby attractions include the Birmingham Zoo, Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Homewood Central Park. The hotel is also close to Samford University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex.

“The energy and character of the Soho Square district—with its walkable streets, vibrant local businesses, and proximity to downtown Birmingham—made this an especially compelling opportunity,” said Chavis. “The hotel’s location places us at the center of a thriving community, surrounded by top-tier universities, major employers, and key cultural attractions. We see
tremendous potential in this market and are excited to contribute to its continued growth.”

The hotel features meeting space, an indoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center, along with Re:fuel, a grab-and-go snack bar, and the W XYZ Bar, which offers craft cocktails and live music.

Luxury hotels are more expensive than ever to build. It doesn’t mean they aren’t getting done.

“I’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Tim Osborne of Hunter Hotel Advisors for his professionalism and guidance throughout this process,” said Chavis. “Tim’s expertise and market knowledge were instrumental in bringing this transaction to a successful close.”

The acquisition adds the Aloft Birmingham Soho Square to PHD Hotels’ portfolio and positions the company in a central location within Birmingham’s Soho Square district.
