The Mount Somerset has been acquired by South West based luxury event venue firm PM Hospitality Limited for an undisclosed sum.
Originally built between 1805 and 1815 as a private residence known as Henlade House, the Grade-II English Regency mansion has operated as a luxury hotel throughout the 21st Century, and was renamed in 2011.
Formerly part of the Von Essen and Eden Collection of hotels, it was last sold in 2021 during the pandemic, after which there was an “extensive” overhaul of the ground floor and external features.
PM Hospitality directors Andrew and Aimee Carveth said they now plan to restore the building’s original name and complete remaining renovation work following the purchase.
Andrew said: “We’re thrilled to have come across The Mount Somerset, it’s a striking period property that has been restored thoughtfully, but we still have the opportunity to complete the renovations that were started, and make our mark on this unique location.
“The property compliments our other venues in the South West, which are popular locations for weddings and corporate events. We’re looking forward to bringing The Mount Somerset back to the market as a place for people to celebrate their special occasions.”

PM Hospitality also run Coombe Lodge in Bristol, Rockbeare Manor in Devon and Priston Mill in Bath.
