Riverside Cottage Holidays, a self-catering holiday let business comprising farmhouse, cottages, agricultural barn and land, located just outside Frome has been brought to market for £2.5m.
Set within 15 acres of grounds near the village of Olford in Somerset, Riverside Cottage Holidays is home to seven holiday cottages along with a Grade-II listed farmhouse which has historically been used as a holiday let, but more recently as a family home.
Built from traditional stone, the holiday cottages boast high spec interiors and private gardens, surrounding a courtyard. Adjacent to the cottages is an agricultural barn which offers further opportunities for development.
The 17th Century farmhouse features seven bedrooms and five bathrooms. The house retains period features and character, including an original bread oven and fireplace. The owners have renovated the reception rooms and kitchen, with the bathrooms also currently in the process of being renovated.
The property also encompasses an old Roman ‘ford’ crossing the river, with some of the original stonework still visible.
The owners, Stephen and Maria, are looking to sell in order to retire. They said: “The acquisition of Oldford Farm in 2020 ticked a lot of boxes for us, fulfilling long held ambitions to wake each day in an inspiring location, be custodians of a beautiful and significant listed building, and to develop and operate a family business in that same location.
“For us, this was the very definition of a lifestyle property, and we have enjoyed (and continue to enjoy) every moment. Now in my early 70’s, the prudent thing to do is make way for a new owner to continue to refine the business, while moving forward with the many and varied development opportunities Riverside Cottage Holidays provides.”
The sale is being managed by Sam Roberts and Gabriela Williams at Christie and Co, who said: “Riverside Cottage Holidays presents a rare opportunity to acquire a well-established self-catering business set within the picturesque Somerset countryside. The property combines historic charm, with its Grade II listed farmhouse and Roman ford, alongside a collection of high-quality holiday cottages in an attractive riverside setting. With private grounds, fishing rights, and strong repeat trade, the business offers both lifestyle appeal and excellent growth potential.”
