Imperial London Hotels has announced a long-term investment in the Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury, supported by a renewed 25-year franchise agreement with IHG Hotels and Resorts.
The family-owned hospitality group, which has operated hotels in Bloomsbury for more than 150 years, said the strategy focuses on “enhancing guest experience and futureproofing the Coram Street property for the traveller of tomorrow”.
The first phase of refurbishment began in January and was completed in April, with the hotel’s new bar and restaurant, the Artful Critic, reopening in July. The full renovation is due to conclude by summer 2026.
The 317-room hotel will feature IHG’s Open Lobby design, creating a modern, social space inspired by the surrounding area.
Bedrooms will include new furnishings and amenities such as Smeg mini fridges and bedside phone holders, designed to improve comfort for both business and leisure guests.
David Manly, chief commercial officer at Imperial London Hotels, said: “The profile and appeal of Bloomsbury continues to grow, and we are excited to be building on this through our investment in the property and our partnership with IHG Hotels and Resorts. In a highly competitive London market, the enhancements we are making – paired with the strength of the Holiday Inn brand – will help us attract more visitors to the area.”
Joanna Kurowsk, vice-president and managing director for the UK and Ireland at IHG Hotels and Resorts, added: “We’re proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Imperial London Hotels. The significant renovation will elevate guest experience and set a new benchmark for the Holiday Inn brand in the capital.”
