Malmaison Newcastle completes £3m refurb of rooms and suites

Malmaison Newcastle has completed a £3m refurbishment of its rooms and suites as part of an investment in its Quayside hotel.

The work covered all 122 bedrooms across seven floors, including 14 suites on the top floor named after ships that reflect Newcastle’s shipbuilding history. 

Several of the suites overlook the River Tyne and the Millennium and Tyne bridges.

The redesign includes new furnishings and décor influenced by the city’s industrial and cultural background. Additionally, corridors feature references to the Tyne Bridge and other local landmarks.

Located in a Grade II-listed former Co-operative Society warehouse, the hotel is close to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, the Glasshouse International Centre for Music and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.

Malmaison Newcastle also operates the Chez Mal Brasserie and Bar, a first-floor restaurant seating 140, which serves a British brasserie menu with French influences led by chef director John Woodward.

Chris Lyall, cluster general manager, said: “The £3m refurbishment represents our continued commitment to improving the Malmaison experience. The new rooms and suites enhance the guest experience and support the ongoing renewal of the Quayside.”
