The Highfield in Driffield, East Yorkshire, has been brought to market for £2.25m, with the Grade II listed hotel and events venue offered for sale after 10 years under its current owners.

The Victorian property includes 12 bedrooms, several dining and bar areas, and landscaped grounds.

It sits within seven acres featuring lawned gardens, woodland, an orchard and a trout stream.

The building dates to the late 19th Century and was constructed on the site of the former North End Windmill, which burned down in 1860.

Local draper Henry Angus built Mill Field House, later expanded by his son Harrison Holt. Holt commissioned architect Temple Moore to undertake renovations, including the distinctive black and white façade inspired by Holt’s wife’s family home in Cheshire.

The property has previously been used as a country club and private residence. Andy and Lindsey Lampard bought it in 2015 and developed it into the hotel and wedding venue operating today.

Christie and Co is overseeing the sale process.

Andy and Lindsey Lampard said: “After 10 wonderful years of developing and running The Highfield, and after having lovingly restored this beautiful property from a private residence into the thriving hotel, restaurant, and events venue it is today, our family has made the thoughtful decision to place the property on the market.

“This has not been an easy choice, but one shaped by life’s natural seasons and our wish to embrace new opportunities as a family. Working alongside the highly respected team of experts at Christie and Co, we are taking a considered approach to finding the right new custodians.”

David Lee, Christie and Co regional director, added: “Highfield House represents an excellent opportunity for a purchaser to acquire a superb, award-winning business. Highfield is an outstanding period property with many attractive features.

“Our clients have built the reputation of the business over the years to a level where it is now deservedly winning awards and is a very popular venue for events, and with strong trade derived from room sales. There is also an excellent restaurant which is led by a talented chef.”
