AVLA reaches settlement with Britannia Hotels over copyright case

📺 The Audiovisual Licensing Alliance (AVLA) settled copyright infringement with Britannia Hotels in Edinburgh's Court of Session. Britannia will now license all its UK hotels. AVLA represents audiovisual creatives, distributing most fees to rightsholders. Hotels must hold an AVLA license for TV access. Max Rumney highlights the importance of copyright compliance for supporting creators and ethical business practices. Non-compliance leads to legal and financial risks. AVLA urges unlicensed businesses to regularize to avoid these issues.

Aimbridge appoints Chris O’Donnell as select service division president

St. Pancras London undergoes eight-figure refurb

🏨 St Pancras London, part of Autograph Collection Hotels, completed a refurbishment of its 245 rooms and suites, including the 207-room Barlow House spanning seven floors, led by German designer Nora Witzigmann. The Chambers Wing, with 38 suites, is being redesigned by French designer Nicolas Daul. St Pancras rebranded on June 3, 2025, and is a landmark of High Victorian Gothic architecture, located above St Pancras International and King’s Cross Station, providing connections to London and Paris.

Leading Hotels of the World adds 10 new properties to its portfolio

🏨 Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) expands with 10 new properties. In 2023, Mongolia's first LHW member, Ayan Zalaat Hotel and Spa near Ulaanbaatar, joins the list. Windjammer Landing Resort in Saint Lucia reopened in 2023 post-renovation. The UK addition is Beaverbrook in Surrey. U.S. entries include Hotel Chelsea in New York and El Encanto in Santa Barbara. European additions feature Ancora Cortina in Italy, reopening in 2025, and Asia gains Pearl Gallery Hotel in Guiyang, China.

Global hotel construction pipeline hit record 15,871 projects in Q2

🏨 Global hotel construction pipeline achieved a record-high with 15,871 projects and 2,436,225 rooms as of Q2 2025, up 3% in projects and 2% in rooms YOY. The U.S. leads with 6,280 projects, followed by China with 3,733, contributing to 64% of global projects. Upscale projects set records with 3,852 projects. Dallas holds the top city position with 199 projects. 970 hotels opened in H1 2025; 1,884 more expected by year-end. LE forecasts 2,854 openings in 2025.

Valamar to open €200m resort in Croatia in 2026

🏖 Croatian hospitality company Valamar plans to open a €200m (£172.5m) resort in Poreč, Istria, by spring 2026. The Pical Resort will feature 514 rooms, suites, and a private villa within Parenzana beachfront park. It includes Croatia's first ESPA-run spa, spanning 1,300 square meters, with six saunas and custom wellness programs. The resort will offer regional culinary experiences and allow guests to explore the 123 km Parenzana trail by bike or foot.

Warwickshire’s The Henley Hotel brought to market for £1.45m

The Henley Hotel, on Tanworth Lane, was built in 1984, offers a car park for about 50 vehicles, and sits on 0.58 acres. Originally with 30 rooms, it now features 27 upgraded en-suite rooms. It's located a mile from Henley-in-Arden and five miles from Warwick, with proximity to Stratford-upon-Avon and Birmingham. The property includes a bar, dining area, gym, and commercial kitchen.

Radisson Blu Glasgow completes £15m refurb with upgraded events spaces

🏨 Radisson Blu Glasgow completed a £15m refurbishment project launched in 2023. The hotel revamped 247 rooms, added a new entrance, and modernized lifts. In the final phase, 12 meeting spaces were upgraded, offering 1,611 sqm for events. The ballroom hosts 550 for dinners and 800 for conferences. Located on Argyle Street, near Glasgow Central Station, the site now features enhanced catering, including two pantry spaces. The Grahamston restaurant offers contemporary Scottish dining.

Aimbridge launches all-inclusive division amid growing demand

George Hotel in Inveraray rescued out of administration for £3.05m

🏨 Charlie Maclachlan and Sam Wignell purchased the historic 24-room George Hotel in Inveraray, Scotland, from Inveraray Inn Ltd's administrators for £3.05 million on March 28. Fyne Hospitality aims to preserve its heritage and enhance its reputation as a celebrated destination.
