Lodging Econometrics: U.S. Hotel Construction Pipeline Reaches New All-Time High

🏗️ In Q3 2024, U.S. hotel construction pipeline reached an all-time high with 6,211 projects/722,821 rooms, up 9% in projects and 7% in rooms YOY. Under construction: 1,185 projects/148,716 rooms, a YOY increase of 11% in projects and 6% in rooms. Scheduled starts: 2,209 projects/251,797 rooms. Early planning also hit records with 2,817 projects/322,308 rooms, both up 17% YOY. Upper midscale and upscale projects compose 60% of the pipeline. Construction starts peaked in 2024. New openings for 2024 are projected at 631 hotels/72,160 rooms, a 1.3% supply increase, with 759 new hotels/86,264 rooms expected in 2025, and 938 new hotels/101,017 rooms in 2026, increasing supply by 1.5% and 1.8%, respectively.

Davidson Hospitality Group Enters Partnership With Nautic Partners

CoStar: U.S. Hotel Industry Continues to Post Positive Year-Over-Year Comparisons

🔔 U.S. hotel industry saw positive gains in October 2024 compared to 2023 with occupancy up by 4.5% at 69.0%, Average Daily Rate (ADR) rising 4.6% to $168.69, and Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR) increasing 9.3% to $116.32. Tampa experienced the largest occupancy increase of 28.1%, reaching 84.2% due to Hurricane Milton. New Orleans led in ADR and RevPAR growth, surging 64.1% to $301.30 and 77.6% to $227.24, respectively, propelled by Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Conversely, Las Vegas and Minneapolis saw RevPAR drops of 7.9% to $196.40 and 6.5% to $86.31, respectively.

AHLA Announces Appointment of Rosanna Maietta as President and CEO

Shawnda Brooks promoted to director of spa at The St. Regis Deer Valley. The Four Seasons Hotel New York, reopening Fall 2024, names Michael Dedera general manager, Christopher Shiel marketing director, and Iwona Luksza F&B director. Hotel Champlain, Curio Collection by Hilton, adds Kenzie Allen as executive chef and Israel Prado Rivas as F&B director. The Sea Ranch Lodge establishes a new culinary team with Darren McRonald as executive chef, Jay Wyant-King as F&B director, Chloe Tula as wine director, and Katrina Coffman as farm manager.
