Ruby Hotels to strengthen its footprint in Germany

🏨 IHG Hotels & Resorts acquired Ruby Hotels in 2025. The brand's expansion includes a new Ruby Hotel in Berlin with 375 rooms, opening in 2028, and another in Copenhagen with 219 rooms, set for a 2027 launch. The Berlin hotel will be developed with Empira Group and operated by The Ruby Group, featuring a rooftop terrace on the Ku'damm Eck. Copenhagen marks Ruby's entry into Denmark, developed with ECE. Ruby Hotels, founded in 2013, now has 20 hotels and 12 under construction in Europe.

Accor reports sustained growth in 2024

🏦 In 2024, Accor opened 293 hotels, added 50,000 rooms, and now manages over 5,680 hotels and 850,000 rooms globally, with 1,381 projects and 233,000 rooms under development. Asia, Middle East, and Pacific regions account for 60% of planned openings for 2025. Accor's 36% of hotels are eco-certified, a 330% increase from 2023. Mercure reached its 1,000th hotel, and ibis plans to open in its 80th country. The Luxury & Lifestyle division opened one hotel per week on average and signed around six projects per month. Orient Express La Minerva in Rome is set to open in 2025. Accor focuses on innovation and expansion in growth markets for 2025 and beyond.

IHG Hotels & Resorts expands strongly across Europe with new brand openings

🏨 IHG Hotels & Resorts expanded in Europe since early 2024, adding nine brands in 13 countries, reaching over 1,100 open or in-pipeline hotels. Highlights include luxury and lifestyle brands like Six Senses and Kimpton, with over 100 open and 70 pipeline properties, and the InterContinental brand, with 225 global hotels, recently entering Serbia. Essentials brands, nearly 70% of IHG's European portfolio, grew with the Garner Hotels debut in Germany, the UK, Austria, and The Netherlands. The suites segment is also growing, with Candlewood Suites set to launch in Germany in 2025. Presently, IHG has 878 hotels open and 260 being developed across Europe.

2024, a record year for B&B Hotels Central & Northern Europe

Germany remains core market with 225 hotels and 23,000+ rooms, contributing €446 million (up 16%). Plans to reach 400 hotels by 2029, with over 3,300 new rooms contracted. Focus on sustainability: green electricity, reduced food waste, and support for SOS Children’s Village. Despite global uncertainties, the company is poised for continued growth in the European hospitality market.

Emblems Collection makes its debut in Italy

🏖️ Accor, with Invel Real Estate and Prodea Investments, will open Hotel Bellevue Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Italian Alps in 2026. This Emblems collection hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo will transform a historic building into a luxury spot with 80 rooms, including 27 suites. Designed by Tihany Design, it will feature local materials and energy-efficient construction. The 500 m² wellness center will include a dual indoor/outdoor swimming pool and a main restaurant with a Bellevue terrace.

🏖️ Hyatt acquired Apple Leisure Group in 2021 to expand into all-inclusive resorts, launching new lifestyle brands. Club Med targets luxury and family-friendly markets, with a beach resort plus safari in South Africa. Hotel 101, a new player, offers a standardized 21 square meter room globally, with localized amenities. Hyatt's World of Hyatt loyalty program aims to retain customers. In 2021, Hotel 101's Manila property reached 96% occupancy. Companies are adapting to localized experiences, sustainability, with a goal of zero emissions by 2050, and targeting long-term partnerships that align with their values. Premier Inn continues to expand in Germany

🏨 Premier Inn and Lechner Group plan to develop a 202-room hotel in Frankfurt Gateway Gardens, near the airport, with a 40-space underground car park. Construction in De-Saint-Exupéry-Straße is scheduled to start in summer 2025 and finish within 18 months. They also collaborate on a 174-room hotel in Eschborn, starting December 2024, with completion expected in May 2026. Modular construction will be used, allowing room installation in just two months after the ground floor is built.

The Standard unveils a new address in Brussels

🏨 The Standard hotel brand set to open a new establishment in Brussels by May 2025, part of the ZIN redevelopment project. Occupying a refurbished tower of the former World Trade Center, the 28-floor hotel features 200 rooms and suites, a multi-purpose lobby, a botanical garden, and dining venues including Double Standard and Lila29, the latter on the 29th floor. Driven by Verena Haller's design, the hotel mixes post-war modernism with Belgian Brutalist influences and offers extended stay suites with premium services.
