Capdesia exits Marugame Udon Europe

🍕 Capdesia exits after 4 years with Toridoll, launching Marugame Udon in the UK. CEO Keith Bird steps down, replaced by interim leader finance director Sam McIntyre. Marugame Udon expanded to 10 London sites in 3 years, won R200 Best Value Restaurant in 2022. Toridoll and Capdesia continue as co-investors in Fulham Shore. Takashi Sugiyama, EVP & COO of Toridoll, cites joint development of best practices. Bird confident in the brand's future growth under McIntyre.

Carlsberg to buy Britvic for £3.3bn

🍻 After two unsuccessful attempts, Carlsberg will acquire Britvic for £3.3 billion, paying 1,290p per share and a 25p special dividend to Britvic shareholders. The completion is expected in Q4, leading to a new entity, Carlsberg Britvic. This follows Carlsberg's deal to buy Marston’s 40% stake in their joint venture for £206m. Carlsberg aims to enhance its UK market position by combining strong beer and soft drink portfolios, including Britvic brands like Fruit Shoot and Pepsi.

Wingers opens five new sites as expansion continues

🍗 Wingers, a chicken wing brand, has opened five new UK sites in Telford, Watford, West Bridgford, Birmingham's Harborne High Street, and Birmingham International train station. Established in June 2020 by Amran and Dylan Sunner with their father Bill, Wingers began franchising in autumn 2022. Currently operating 11 locations, the brand aims to expand in Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, and Scotland. Wingers’ goal is to open 50 stores within four years, targeting QSR professionals and experienced business individuals for franchise management.

Established in June 2020 by the Sunner family, Wingers launched as a franchise in autumn 2022. Currently operating 11 locations, the company aims to expand into Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, and Scotland, with a goal of 50 stores in the next four years. Co-founder Amran Sunner emphasized infrastructure and support for franchisees.
