Lussmanns Highgate
🌊 Lussmanns seafood restaurant opens in Highgate, London, after 20 years and a 3-year expansion pause. Founded by Andrei Lussmann in 2002, the Hertfordshire-based group, backed by Luke Johnson, previously had 3 locations and closed Oxford and Tring sites. Highgate’s menu offers sustainable, locally-sourced dishes with a set menu priced at £20.95 for two courses, and £23.95 for three. The new 130-cover venue features a café, dining area, bar, and a 30-cover walled garden. Another opening is expected next month at the former Loch Fyne site in Woburn near Milton Keynes.

Salsa brand Conchita’s to open taco and burrito bar in Selfridges
🌮 Javier Vera-Abbassi's brand opens a 14-seater dining area in London's department store on 23 September. Centered around 100-year-old family recipes, Conchita's offers burritos, tacos, salads to eat in or take away. Menu highlights include tinga tacos, cochinita pibil, portobello options, and burritos like jackfruit and beef birria. Salads feature ingredients like cactus and watermelon. Desserts include churros and tres leches cake. A forthcoming breakfast menu will add burritos and Mexican sweet bread.

Chris Eden returns to Cornwall to join Watergate Bay
🥘 Chris Eden, the former executive head chef at Gidleigh Park, is set to oversee food operations at Watergate Bay Hotel's venues starting 1 October. Eden, who helped Gidleigh Park reclaim a Michelin star in 2023, will work with head chefs Ben Ambridge, Dani Bolton, Nick Giles, and Anthony Quinn. He won a Michelin star for Cornwall's Driftwood Hotel in 2012 and attended St Austell College. Eden's aim is to create dishes with a neighbourhood restaurant feel, ensuring guests leave happy.

Novameat raises €17.4m to boost global market reach
🍯 Novameat, specializing in plant-based products with a fibrous texture for the foodservice industry in Europe, has raised $17.4 million in a Series A funding round. The capital will support expansion into new regions, the launch of Shredded Nova-b*ef on 16 September, scaling production, and accelerating R&D. The funding was led by Sofinnova Partners and Forbion via the BioEconomy Fund, with additional reinvestment from Unovis Asset Management, Praesidium, and Rubio Impact Ventures. CEO Giuseppe Scionti aims to empower wellbeing and sustainability with their offerings.

10 key restaurants opening before the end of the year
🍴 Jason Atherton and Spencer Metzger's "Row on 5" set to open around 6 November on London's Savile Row, offering a 15-course meal at £195, with two extra courses as an option. Shanghai Me, a 1930s Shanghai-inspired restaurant, will replace Galvin at Windows on the London Hilton's 28th floor. AngloThai by John and Desiree Chantarasak, a 50-cover Thai-British cuisine venue, is coming to Marylebone’s Seymour Place. Basque restaurant Topa to open in Islington
🍽 Simon Shand, former head chef at Michelin-starred Shoreditch restaurant Leroy, is leading Topa, a new 22-cover restaurant in London's Holloway Road, focusing on San Sebastian cuisine. Topa operates Thursday to Saturday in the Provisions kitchen, offering pintxos and Basque plates. Dishes include wild mushrooms with egg yolk, beans with tomatoes and garlic, and hake with orzo. Provisions Wine & Cheese, founded in 2015 by Hugo Esquerré, features over 100 cheeses and 120 wines, and collaborates with Shand for Topa, aiming to recreate the communal San Sebastian dining experience.
