Thomas Cook acquired by traveltech firm…

✈ Sky Group acquired Thomas Cook, excluding the China business, from Fosun Tourism Group. Thomas Cook collapsed in September 2019, was later bought and relaunched online by Fosun in September 2020. eSky, founded in 2004, operates in over 50 countries, offering 550+ airlines and 1.3 million hotels. In 2023, eSky reported profits of over £18 million, up 42% year-on-year. eSky expects this acquisition to expand into Western Europe and diversify its offerings. Based in Katowice, Poland, eSky has over 800 employees. Thomas Cook will continue operating under its name, aiming for a growth in European travel business.

Expedia Group becomes Ryanair’s latest…

📍 Ryanair has formed a new partnership with Expedia Group, allowing Expedia to offer Ryanair flights within holiday packages or as standalone options. This follows other 2023 partnerships with lastminute.com, On the Beach, Tui, Loveholidays, Kiwi.com, and Etraveli. The collaboration, announced by Ryanair CMO Dara Brady and Expedia Group's SVP Susan Spinney, ensures customer access to myRyanair accounts and updates. Travelers can book these flights on Expedia in the upcoming months.

Etraveli Group becomes Ryanair’s latest…

✈ Ryanair, a budget carrier, forms its 6th 'Approved OTA' partnership with Etraveli Group, enabling OTA brands such as Mytrip, Gotogate, and Flightnetwork to offer Ryanair flights. This follows Ryanair's earlier 2023 partnerships with lastminute.com, On the Beach, Tui, Loveholidays, and Kiwi.com. Customers booking through these OTAs are guaranteed correct contact and payment info, access to myRyanair accounts, and vital flight details. Etraveli Group will use a direct API for efficient bookings. Ryanair also announces its 4th Moroccan base in Tangier for summer 2024, with 25 routes, including 13 new ones, and two aircraft based there.
