Ascott expands European portfolio and enters Chelsea FC partnership

🏨 The Ascott Limited has added six new European properties, marking the debut of The Unlimited Collection and the expansion of the lyf brand. This 14% increase takes Ascott's portfolio to about 8,000 units across 29 cities. New locations include Colmar, France, and Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester, and Manchester in the UK. A strategic partnership with Chelsea Football Club will see Ascott manage 232 units at Stamford Bridge, rebranding to lyf Stamford Bridge London in 2025. The partnership leverages Chelsea's 600 million-strong global fanbase.

🏡 Adrian Fullan’s Black Rock Hotels opened Gray’s at Bushmills, a 17-bed boutique hotel on the Antrim coast, supported by Ulster Bank. Ninebanks Hostel and Chalet in Northumberland, with a four-bedroom cottage, 28-guest hostel, and two-bedroom chalet, is on sale for £675k. Tribe London Canary Wharf awarded Green Key status for environmental efforts like partnering with Made Blue Foundation. The Glencarse Hotel in Perthshire, featuring five en-suite rooms and a restaurant, is on the market for £495k after 11 years under family management.

🏨 Virgin Hotels opened bookings for their first London hotel in Shoreditch, launching on August 1st, adding to their eight existing locations and expanding the brand to a total of 17 properties. The Shoreditch hotel features 120 luxury bedrooms and a Spanish restaurant by chef Dani Garcia. Everly Hotels launched The White Horses in Rottingdean, offering 32 rooms, including dog-friendly options, and a 290-seater restaurant. The Driftwood Hotel in Cornwall was sold to a private group after 22 years of ownership. Ibis Styles hotel in Glasgow secured a £5m refinancing deal, featuring 137 beds and a music-themed bar.

🏨 S Harrison appointed Ogilvie Construction to convert Osborne House in Edinburgh into a 157-room hotel, scheduled to open Spring 2026 by Meininger Hotels. A London Earls Court Hotel has been refurbished into a co-branded Mercure (282 rooms) and Ibis (226 rooms) property, with more Mercure rooms coming by early 2025. Dalata Hotel Group opened a 268-room Maldron Hotel in Liverpool, its first in the city, designed for sustainability. The Queen at Chester hotel completed a £5m refurbishment, upgrading 104 bedrooms and public areas.

Works starts on new 157-room Edinburgh hotel

🏨 Property development company S Harrison appointed Ogilvie Construction for a 157-room hotel project in Edinburgh's Haymarket, transforming Osborne House, a 1970s office building. The hotel, operated by Meininger Hotels which has 36 hotels in 26 European cities, is set to open in Spring 2026. S Harrison acquired Osborne House in 2018 and aims to bolster their property portfolio, following a previous investment in a 72-bedroom hotel at Buchan House, Edinburgh. The development emphasizes energy efficiency and sustainability.
