🏠 The Marcus Whitman, built in 1928, is the oldest hotel in Walla Walla, Washington. It underwent a renovation completed in June, blending historic and contemporary elements. General Manager Ted Hawksford led the project, which included the redesign of The Marc Restaurant and The Marc Bar. The renovation showcases local agriculture and winemaking, with three local wineries investing in the hotel. The redesign features vendor partners such as Rustbelt Reclamation, Durkan/Mohawk, WSI Group, and Creoworks.

🏠 LivAway Suites opened its first hotel in the Salt Lake City area, West Jordan, Utah, in June 2023. The hotel, developed by West77 Partners, features 126 suites and was completed over a 12-month period, under budget. It targets various guests like construction workers and traveling professionals. LivAway has eight recent groundbreakings and plans for 20 more locations within a year, aiming for over 50 hotels by 2026. The brand emphasizes economy extended-stay lodging with a high return on investment.

🏡 Locke de Santa Joana, Locke's largest hotel with 370 apartments, opened in Lisbon's centre near Avenida da Liberdade in summer 2024. Design studios Lázaro Rosa-Violán and Post Company renovated a 17th-century convent into the hotel. Features include a courtyard pool, co-working and event spaces, a museum, and White Rabbit Projects and Spiritland dining venues. Opening rates start at 200 EUR per night. The second phase, with new bars, is set for autumn 2024.

🍴 Chef Greg Clarke plans to open Mexican restaurant El Bolillo in Hove in early September, offering a sharing menu with an emphasis on tacos. The restaurant, seating 30, will be open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday and lunch on Saturdays, with an average spend of £55-£60 per person. Clarke and business partner, originally from Italy, met at South Lodge hotel in 2021. They also intend to open a larger dual-concept restaurant in central Brighton by the end of next year.

🏖️ Rosewood Hotels & Resorts unveils Rosewood Residences Old Lighthouse in Los Cabos, Mexico, featuring 144 homes on 550 acres, with sizes from 4,000 to 10,000+ sq. ft. Amenities include a Cliff House with a five-star restaurant, a Beach Club with pools and dining, a Family Athletic Center, a wellbeing center, and a private golf course by Jack Nicklaus. The project involves the Coppel family and designers from Gomez Vazquez International and Studio Lifestyle.

🏡 Tivoli Hotels & Resorts opened Tivoli Portopiccolo Sistiana Wellness Resort & Spa in Trieste, Italy, featuring 58 rooms, 20 suites, and 30 apartments, with a 3,600-square-meter spa to open later this year. Courtyard by Marriott launched its eighth Japan hotel and first in Hokkaido, the Courtyard by Marriott Sapporo with 321 rooms. In December 2022, the Home2 Suites by Hilton North Scottsdale was sold, including an outdoor pool and 500 square feet of event space. Accor partnered with Kylian Mbappé to support youth and corporate social responsibility. Indian Hotel Co. Ltd.'s ama Stays & Trails reached over 200 bungalows across India, with 97 under development and more than 65% new-builds.

🏠 Capella Hotels and Resorts, in partnership with Galaxy Entertainment Group, is set to open Capella at Galaxy Macau with 93 keys in Macau’s Greater Bay Area in 2024. The 17-story hotel features 36 Sky Villas with private balconies and infinity pools, and 57 suites with private plunge pools. The design by Moinard Bētaille highlights Macau's cultural heritage, while Michelin-starred chef Vicky Cheng helms the signature restaurant. Pony & Plume, a members-only lounge, adds exclusivity with an equestrian theme.

🏡 Shanan Anji Deep Stream, a boutique hotel, is located on Tianmu Mountain, Hangzhou, within a 230-square-mile Anji Bamboo Forest. Transformed from existing houses, the 17-key hotel showcases natural textures, geometric designs, and parabolic U-shaped walls. Designed by Fununit Design's Eason Zhu, rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights. The property uses a neutral color palette with red travertine and copper accents, and includes light-filtering corridors. The article was published in HD's July 2024 issue.

🍪 Insomnia Cookies, founded in 2003, operates 285 US sites and branches in the UK and Canada. On July 22, Krispy Kreme sold its majority stake for $350m, doubling its 2018 valuation. New partners Verlinvest and Mistral aim to expand to over 1,800 bakeries globally. Krispy Kreme received $127.4m with $45m more expected after Insomnia Cookies' debt refinancing. Krispy Kreme will focus on its fresh doughnut business and retains a 34% stake in Insomnia Cookies.

🏡 Hilton Garden Inn Charleston | Mt. Pleasant in South Carolina completed a renovation of all guestrooms, suites, public areas, and event spaces. Located between historic downtown Charleston and Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island beaches, it offers 133 guestrooms and more than 5,000 square feet of meeting space. Amenities include a fitness center, outdoor pool with a rooftop deck and fire pit, 24-hour business center, complimentary internet, and dining options such as the Garden Grille and Bar.
