Schuurkes and van Tilburg will join the board to focus on strategy. CityHub aims to double its network across Europe, emphasizing compact, sustainable accommodations. Gerritsen, with 25+ years of experience, previously worked at International Hotel Capital Partners.

Spa Vea in Newport Beach appoints Michael Jastrzebski as director

Tewinbury buys Hertford House Hotel and Quiet Man pub in £2.2m deal

🏠 The Williams family acquired Hertford House Hotel and Quiet Man pub in Hertford for over £2.2 million following the previous operator's administration. The properties include 28 en-suite rooms and a pub seating 40 indoors. All staff positions were secured and transferred to Tewinbury Farm, a riverside hotel and farm near Welwyn operated by the family since 1931. Brothers Jack, Tom, and Sam Williams will lead the development, focusing on local produce and community emphasis.

RBH appoints new group HR director

Blackpool’s Hotel Sheraton marks 10 years with VisitEngland award

🏨 Family-run Hotel Sheraton in Blackpool celebrated its 10th anniversary with a ROSE Award from VisitEngland, placing it among the top 100 UK hospitality providers. In September, the award was given in Berkshire. The three-star hotel, employing 90 staff, ranks third among 92 Blackpool hotels on TripAdvisor and was recognized at the Lancashire Tourism Awards. Over 80% of guests return. It has raised over £50k for local causes and renovated 90% of its 109 rooms.

Rockliffe Hall launches multimillion-pound golf course upgrade

🏌️ Rockliffe Hall in Hurworth near Darlington is undergoing a multimillion-pound upgrade to its golf facilities, including a new TrackMan Range and Golf Academy, with a bunker renovation reducing size from 10,000 sq m to 6,000 sq m by December 2026. The resort expanded its machinery fleet from 42 to 50. Opened in 2009, the championship course features 78 bunkers and is part of 59Club’s Eminent Collection. A new Mediterranean restaurant, Terra Riviera, opens in October.

BWH Hotels GB adds eight heritage properties to portfolio

🏨 BWH Hotels GB has added eight properties to its portfolio, including the Brackenborough Hotel in Lincolnshire and the Ashbourne Hotel in North Lincolnshire, as part of a plan to add 100 properties by 2029 and reach 20,000 rooms in the UK. The Brackenborough Hotel features 19 luxury lodges, while the Ashbourne Hotel offers 36 rooms. BWH, with over 230 independent hotels, combines global brand strength with hotelier autonomy.

Bob W signs fifth Munich property as expansion continues

IHF welcomes rising employee confidence in tourism careers

🏨 2025 research shows 86% of employees see tourism as a long-term career, up from 71% in 2021, per Fáilte Ireland. Recruitment in accommodation, bar, and waiting services has improved, but 52% report chef shortages. The Irish tourism sector supports 270,000 jobs across 20,000 businesses, with 70% outside Dublin. Ritz-Carlton Maldives to host Halloween-themed autumn festival
