Travelodge opens 600th UK hotel on Skegness seafront

🏨 Travelodge opened its 600th UK hotel in Skegness, with 80 rooms including 12 SuperRooms, located 400 meters from the Blue Flag beach. This new site created 22 jobs and features the chain's first top-floor bar café. It has achieved a BREEAM Excellent sustainability rating, and an EPC rating of A, using air source heat pumps and low-energy lighting. Nearby attractions include Skegness Pier and Natureland Seal Sanctuary.

Home Farm House opens near The Pig in the Cotswolds

🏠 Home Farm House, a three-bedroom cottage in the Cotswolds, opened near The Pig in the Cotswolds and The Village Pub. Just two minutes away, it features a farmhouse kitchen, sitting room, dining room, games room, and private garden. The Village Pub offers traditional British dishes, and The Pig in the Cotswolds provides a 25-mile menu with local produce. Desserts include Cotswold dairy cheesecake and roasted Victoria plums with sorbet.

IoH makes senior appointments to boost commercial strategy

📚 Isabel Hargreaves, promoted in February 2024, becomes head of membership and commercial for the Institute of Hospitality (IoH). Sidiqa Hazara steps into the new role of commercial manager. Emma Ellis is promoted to events manager, having joined in 2023. Aymen Fetouak, appointed head of professional development in May 2025, aims to expand training. IoH, with 16,000 global members, focuses on commercial strategy for 2026, led by CEO Robert Richardson.

Mazzard Farm Holiday Cottages brought to market for almost £2m

Current owner, Ruud Venneboer, purchased the property in 2007. The UK staycation market is growing, with a 11% increase in domestic holiday trips in Q1 2025 compared to Q1 2024.

The Belfry unveils new multi-million pound resort expansion

House of Gods to open first London hotel in Canary Wharf

The Beaumont to open new restaurant Rosi on 1 October

US visitor slowdown hits UK hotels as weaker dollar pressures pricing

📈 American visitors to the UK have decreased in early 2025, impacting London hotel rates due to a weaker dollar and new tariffs by President Trump. The US, a vital market, contributed £7 billion in 2024, with Americans making up 15% of international stays. From mid-July to mid-August, UK hotel rates rose 1.4% in pounds but nearly 6% in dollars. London hotels saw a 0.6% ADR drop to £201, equating to a 4% rise in dollars.

Whatley Manor secures EarthCheck certification for fourth year

🌎 Whatley Manor, a Wiltshire hotel, achieved EarthCheck Silver certification for the fourth year, recognizing its energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management. In 2024, it recorded 907 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions, a 14% reduction from 2023. Since 2022, the hotel collaborates with Greenly for emissions tracking. It retired 1,000 carbon credits from Mexico's San Jerónimo Coatlán project, supporting local communities and biodiversity. The hospitality sector contributes nearly one-sixth of Britain's greenhouse emissions.

Horwood House opens UK’s first ‘butterfly resort’
