Gurney’s Montauk lands $235M refinancing

🏖️ Smith Hill Capital and Bain Capital completed a $235-million refinancing for Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa. The property, managed by BLDG Management and Metrovest Equities, spans 20 acres with 2,000 feet of beachfront in Montauk, N.Y., featuring 158 keys, five dining venues, 25,000 square feet of meeting/event space, and a 30,000-square-foot spa. JLL arranged the financing, aimed at supporting the resort's position as a luxury destination in a high-demand leisure market.

Hyatt officially opens first of its Studios brand in Mobile, Ala.

🏨 Hyatt Studios Mobile / Tillmans Corner, the first of Hyatt Hotels Corp.'s extended-stay brand, opened in Mobile, Ala. A ribbon-cutting event featured Hyatt executives, with 122 apartment-style suites available. Located under 10 miles from Mobile International Airport, the hotel caters to business travelers and tourists with nearby attractions like USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. Amenities include full kitchens, free fiber internet, and an expanded borrows program. Developed by 3H Group and managed by LBA Hospitality, further brand expansions are planned in Huntsville, Ala., and Jacksonville, Fla.

Peachtree expands in Texas with new TownePlace Suites property

🏡 Peachtree Group, in partnership with TEKMAK Development Company, opened the 87-suite TownePlace Suites in Forney, Texas, 22 miles east of Dallas. The pet-friendly hotel, catering to short and long stays, offers full kitchens, complimentary breakfast, a 24-hour fitness center, and an outdoor pool. In 2023, Peachtree managed multiple Texas hotels, with a portfolio including several brands. The hospitality division now oversees 108 hotels, 28 brands, 13,440 rooms across 26 states, with 35 properties under third-party management.

Grand Hyatt Miami Beach secures $392M construction loan

🏨 Terra and Turnberry secured a $392-million construction loan from TYKO Capital for the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach, set to open in late 2027. This 800-room hotel will be an 800-room establishment located next to the Miami Beach Convention Center, featuring 12 floors of guestrooms, 52 suites, four levels of meeting and ballroom space, and a rooftop pool deck. The city's first major convention hotel connected to the center received a $75-million grant from the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency in 2024 after being approved by voters in 2018. Hyatt will manage the property, which is part of a public-private partnership and includes public improvements such as widened sidewalks and bike-share stations.

Loren Group buys Elbow Beach Bermuda

🏠 The Loren Group acquired Bermuda's Elbow Beach Hotel and Fritholme Garden Residences for redevelopment, adding to their portfolio with The Loren at Pink Beach (opened 2017) and The Loren at Lady Bird Lake. Elbow Beach has been closed since 2020, and the renovation will update hotel facilities, residences, restaurants, and wellness areas, plus new employment opportunities. The Loren at Turtle Cove in Turks & Caicos is set to open in 2026, with more Elbow Beach details forthcoming. The project aims to contribute to Bermuda's tourism and residential objectives.

Idaho’s Coeur d’Alene Resort to expand with new tower

🏖 Hagadone Hospitality has started construction on the Sherman Tower, expanding The Coeur d’Alene Resort in Idaho by 139 rooms, totaling 477 rooms when complete. The project is expected to generate around 200 jobs, featuring lake-facing guestrooms, an expanded food-and-beverage program, and new common areas. The expansion includes a lobby lounge, rotating local art café, a full-service restaurant, and a rooftop bar with views of Lake Coeur d’Alene and the city skyline. The resort already has a spa, marina, golf course, and meeting space. Coeur d’Alene has seen increased tourism and corporate meetings, along with hospitality development.

Accor partners with InterGlobe to expand through India

🏨 Accor and InterGlobe partner to expand Accor’s India presence, targeting 300 hotels by 2030. Accor currently has 71 hotels, with 40 more being developed. Joint investment in Treebo, which manages 800 hotels across 120 cities; will develop Ibis and Mercure brands, with 10 new Mercure hotels signed. India's travel market is growing, with the economy projected to grow at approximately 7% GDP, becoming the 5th-largest outbound and 3rd-largest domestic travel market by 2027. Collaboration includes a loyalty program between IndiGo's BluChip and Accor’s ALL - Accor Live Limitless. Agreements await governmental approval.

Mandarin Oriental reopens resorts in Italy, Turkey and Greece

🏠 Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group reopens three seasonal resorts in Europe this April: Lago di Como (Italy), Bodrum (Turkey), and Costa Navarino (Greece). Lago di Como features CO.MO Bar & Bistrot redesign and L~ARIA restaurant, along with the largest floating outdoor pool on Lake Como. Bodrum offers private accommodations, the Blue Beach Club & Bar, Hakkasan restaurant, and a spa with sea views. Costa Navarino introduces two new villas with private pools and spa rooms, Greek cuisine at Oliviera, and activities including golf and cultural site visits. The group also plans to open Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca in 2026.

Orient Express opens hotel near the Pantheon

🏡 Orient Express launched its first hotel in Rome, Orient Express La Minerva, situated at Piazza della Minerva 69, near the Pantheon. Architect Hugo Toro redesigned the 17th-century palazzo, including 93 rooms and 36 suites. Partnered with Arsenale Group, this follows La Dolce Vita Orient Express and precedes Venice's Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovannelli. The hotel boasts unique interior designs and custom furniture, with suites like the Stendhal Suite. Facilities include five venues, the largest being Olimpo Ballroom at 165 sqm. Coming soon are rooftop dining venue Gigi Rigolatto in May 2025 and Mimi Kakushi, a restaurant with Japanese-Western fusion, following a Dubai original named Best Bar in Middle East & Africa in 2024.

Drury Hotels opens hotel near Charleston, S.C., airport

🏨 Drury Hotels opened its new Drury Plaza Hotel North Charleston in North Charleston, S.C., featuring 252 guestrooms and suites, and more than 3,600 square feet of meeting space. Located less than 10 miles from downtown Charleston and Daniel Island, and three miles from Charleston International Airport. The hotel provides amenities like complimentary breakfast, evening snacks, Wi-Fi, parking, a pool, spa, 24-hour fitness center, and The Kitchen + Bar. It employs 70 people and offers a Meetings with More program for event planners. Drury Hotels now has over 150 hotels across 27 states.
