Towneplace Suites opens in downtown San Jose

🏨 Urban Catalyst and Island Hospitality Management opened the Marriott TownePlace Suites in downtown San Jose, California. The 119-room hotel is part of a $170-million Moxy/AC by Marriott development. The five-story property features amenities like a fitness center and rooftop deck. Managed by Island Hospitality, which operates over 80 hotels, the project aligns with San Jose’s Downtown Strategy 2040. TownePlace Suites targets guests staying five nights or more and adds to the existing 311-room Moxy and AC Hotel nearby.

Peachtree secures USCIS approval for four regional centers

🏦 Peachtree Group received U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services approval for four regional centers to structure and sponsor EB-5 projects across the continental U.S. Peachtree plans to integrate EB-5 capital into its investment strategy and has already secured three I-956F approvals for hotel projects, including Home2 Suites by Hilton in Boone, N.C., TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Palmdale, Calif., and SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Bryce Canyon City, Utah, since launching its EB-5 program in 2023. The EB-5 visa program requires a minimum investment of $800,000, creating at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers. Peachtree aims to expand EB-5 projects and foster investor relationships.

GHA CEO points to loyalty growth as Q1 revenue driver

🏨 Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) started 2025 with $746 million in Q1 revenue, a 15% increase. GHA DISCOVERY loyalty program now boasts 30 million members. Room nights increased by 12%, and average daily rate (ADR) rose by 3%. Cross-brand revenue grew by 11%. DISCOVERY Dollars redemption surged 60%, with Spain, Germany, China, and Singapore leading. Redemptions generated 7.6 times more revenue, with over D$1,000 redemptions yielding 4-5 times the value. New memberships in Q1 grew by 8%, totaling 850,000. International stays contributed 70% of revenue; Maldives and Thailand saw the highest with 100% and 95%. China's stay revenue grew by 19%. Rotana's addition in March expanded GHA's portfolio by 80 hotels.

Wyndham moves to jumpstart Super 8 expansion in Southern Europe

📰 Wyndham Hotels & Resorts partners with Soliteight Hotel Projects SA to introduce Super 8 in Spain and Portugal, planning 40 hotels within a decade. The first hotel will open in Leiria, Portugal in Q4 2027. Modular construction will be utilized predominantly. Wyndham aims to fill the budget-friendly accommodation gap, with Spain having received a record 94 million international visitors in 2024 and a 3.2% GDP growth that year. Spain and Portugal have a 10% lower budget brand penetration compared to other European markets, despite a 142% RevPAR increase since 2019. Wyndham has over 550 European hotels, with existing Spanish and Portuguese properties under different brands.

Sofitel Legend Amsterdam begins historic renovation

🏡 Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, dating back to the 15th century and once a convent, royal guesthouse, and Amsterdam City Hall, will be renovated by French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon to merge historical elements with modern luxury. The hotel features the Wedding Chamber from 1925, 175 rooms and suites including Legendary Suites and a new Bridal Suite, and will introduce a redesigned courtyard garden and a Florista Tea & Cocktail Lounge. Sustainability efforts include improved insulation, geothermal energy systems, and the use of certified woods and natural textiles. The Grand boasts Green Key Gold, EarthCheck Silver, and a platinum rating from Accor for sustainability.
