Hilton partner brand AutoCamp opens Sequoia National Park location

🏕 AutoCamp Sequoia opened in Three Rivers, Calif. near Sequoia National Park. Hilton partnered with AutoCamp in February 2024, allowing bookings through Hilton's direct channels and accumulation of Hilton Honors points. The site offers 85 accommodations, including Airstream Suites, Cabins, BaseCamp Suites, and Bunk Rooms for up to six guests. The 3,350 square-foot Clubhouse features lounge areas, games, and indoor/outdoor fire pits. Amenities include a heated pool, complimentary bikes, and outdoor activities. The Kitchen offers locally sourced meals, and the General Store sells food and drink items. Event spaces accommodate corporate retreats, weddings, and reunions. AutoCamp's mission prioritizes accessibility to the outdoors with high design and comfort.

Marriott-backed Trailborn opens Grand Canyon location

🏕 Trailborn opened its fifth hotel, Trailborn Grand Canyon, in Williams, Ariz. along Route 66 near Grand Canyon National Park. The redesigned hotel features 96 king and queen guest rooms with modern amenities, a saloon-style event space hosting up to 200 guests, and a restaurant. Outdoor amenities include a pool, hot tub, bocce court, and more. Miss Kitty's, a Southwest steakhouse and bar, will open later this spring. A portion of booking proceeds supports the Grand Canyon Conservancy's initiatives.

HEI Hotels to manage the Claremont Resort Berkeley

🏠 HEI Hotels & Resorts has taken over Claremont Resort & Club Berkeley management, expanding its U.S. portfolio to 103 properties. Owned by Ohana Real Estate Investors, the Berkeley, Calif. hotel features 276 rooms, 21,000 square feet of meeting space, and views of San Francisco Bay. The resort boasts the Spa at Claremont, Limewood restaurant, The Club at the Claremont with eight tennis courts, four pickleball courts, three outdoor pools, and a fitness facility. James Cole and HEI CEO Anthony Rutledge express excitement for the partnership and future enhancements.

Led by London, UK hotel sector shows gains, says Knight Frank report

🏨 UK hotel sector resilient in 2024, nearing pre-pandemic occupancy and profitability. London occupancy rate at 82%, up 3.4% from 2023; average daily rate (ADR) £228. Upper-upscale segment occupancy at 84%, luxury segment at 75% with a 3.6% ADR drop. Regional UK cities occupancy increased to 76%, ADR £105. London hotels saw a 5% increase in gross operating profit per available room (GOPPAR) over 2019; regional hotels' GOPPAR £38, GOP margin at 30%. Operational costs rise due to higher wages and National Insurance. Knight Frank predicts technology will be key for future efficiency and growth in the sector.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts opens its first hotel in Japan

a&o Hostels reports record growth and expansion in 2024

🏡 In 2024, a&o Hostels reported its best year with 6.2 million overnight stays, 2.8 million guests, and £192.7 million revenue, an increase from the previous year. They expanded with new hostels in Brighton, Antwerp, Brussels, and Florence's a&o Firenze Campo di Marte. The average occupancy rate was 76.6%, and they plan to open a five-story hostel in Heidelberg in late 2026. Group travelers accounted for 38% of guests, 40% of bookings were direct, and 70% of online bookings were through smartphones. The company reduced carbon emissions per overnight stay by 78% over the past decade.

Madrid’s The Westin Palace reopens under Marriott’s Luxury Collection

Bahama’s The Cove Eleuthera completes renovation

InterContinental Indianapolis opens in historic Illinois Building

The Hoxton, Florence opens in Italy joining Rome property

🏡 The Hoxton, Florence opened in the city's historic center, succeeding The Hoxton, Rome as the brand's second hotel in Italy. It offers 161 rooms in a 16th-century renaissance palazzo and a 1980s building by Andrea Branzi. The hotel features the Italian restaurant Alassio, the wine bar Enoteca Violetta, a courtyard, event spaces, and a three-bedroom apartment category called House. Original renaissance elements were preserved by Aime Studios, alongside modern designs and Italian craftsmanship. Alassio's menu ranges from necci chestnut pancakes to girella ravioli, while Enoteca Violetta serves international wines and Italian snacks. Guests have complimentary access to Sergio Bianchi bikes and discounts at local fitness centers. The hotel also collaborates with local businesses for guest amenities and showcases emerging artists.
