Sonder claps back at Marriott after it terminates licensing agreement
🚨 November 10, 2025, Marriott International terminated its agreement with Sonder due to default, impacting its 4.5% net rooms growth forecast. Sonder announced an immediate operations wind-down and Chapter 7 liquidation, following a $224 million net loss for 2024 and $44.5 million in Q2 2025. Delayed integration with Marriott and participation in the Bonvoy system led to severe financial constraints. Marriott had invested $15 million in Sonder, who went public in January 2022 at a $1.9 billion valuation.
