Azul Hospitality takes over management of two Seattle hotels

IHG has a clear mission: Increase in the East

📅 Elie Maalouf, CEO of IHG Hotels & Resorts, spoke at the Skift Global Forum emphasizing growth in the East, especially the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and China. Japan saw 36.9 million international visitors in 2024, a 47% increase from 2023. Only 5% of Japanese hotels are branded internationally. IHG plans to double its 50 hotels in Japan. Globally, IHG has 6,730 hotels in over 100 countries, with 2,300 more in development. IHG acquired Ruby Hotels for over $300 million in 2023.

Aman unveils new luxury resort in Mozambique

Japan’s Seibu Prince set to acquire Ace Hotels brand for $90M

💰 Japan’s Seibu Prince acquires Ace Group for $90 million. The deal, first reported by Bloomberg, is expected to close on September 30, 2023. Ace Hotels, founded in Seattle in 1999, operates eight hotels globally, including New York, Brooklyn, Palm Springs, and more, with a new hotel slated for Fukuoka, Japan. Seibu Prince aims for 250 hotels by 2035. SPW and Ace will manage 94 hotels worldwide, with seven more planned. Ace founder Alex Calderwood passed away in 2013.

Washington’s The Morrow Hotel secures $53M refinancing

Donohoe Hospitality takes over Southern Management Companies hotel portfolio
