Luxury travel in Asia Pac drives travel & tourism growth

🌍 Asia Pacific's travel market is expected to reach $689.5 billion by 2030, with a 6% CAGR from 2019-2030. Luxury travel is significant, with 68% of Southeast Asian travelers planning to spend more in the next year. Indians lead with 89% planning increased travel spend, favoring travel within Asia Pacific. An average of six leisure trips is expected in the next 12 months, with Australia being the top destination (46%). Fine dining influences 81% of HNW individuals' hotel choices. India is predicted to be the third-largest domestic and fifth-largest outbound market by 2027. Hilton's DoubleTree has surpassed 100 hotels in Asia Pacific, with 80 more planned. Radisson Hotel Group has added 10 new properties in India, reaching over 180 hotels in operation or development.

Sage Hospitality expands into Florida with One Ocean Resort & Spa acquisition

🏖️ Sage Hospitality Group has expanded into Florida by acquiring One Ocean Resort & Spa through a JV with Aspect Real Estate Group, Corner Lot, and Kelco Management and Development. The resort, located on over 3 acres of oceanfront in Atlantic Beach, FL, was purchased from Ashford Hospitality Trust in June for $87 million ($451,000 per key). Sage plans significant renovations and repositioning in 2025, aiming to elevate the property's 193 rooms, spa, and dining facilities, which include over 10,000 square feet of event space.

Briefs: NH Collection arrives in Thailand; Curator adds to portfolio

🏕 Minor Hotels rebrands Peace Resort Samui to NH Collection Samui, the first NH Collection in Thailand, opening January 1, 2025. The resort, founded by the Pupaiboon family in 1977, is located on Bophut Beach, Koh Samui, 400m from Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort, featuring 122 rooms including deluxe rooms, bungalows, and villas, some with private pools and beach access. Amenities include an all-day restaurant, lounge, fitness, water sports, kids’ area, retail shop, and event spaces. Curator Hotel & Resort Collection adds four U.S. properties including 73-key Quirk Richmond, 109-room Albert Hotel, The Ozarker Lodge, and 510-room Ascent on Main. Hotel Anna & Bel will open on August 7 in Philadelphia with 50 rooms, a restaurant, pool courtyard, wellness facilities, fitness center, and Caletta bar. ENVI Lodges opens ENVI Sisini Serengeti in Tanzania with 11 luxury tents/villas and plans two more properties by 2025.

Briefs: Rosewood opens luxury resort in Austria; IHG adds to Indian portfolio

🍇 Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, a 15th-century castle in Salzburg, Austria, has been transformed into a luxury hotel by Rosewood and opened with 98 rooms, including 42 suites and six chalets. The property offers a 1,500-square-meter spa, guided excursions, and a beach club. Rosewood Vienna opened in 2022, adding to the 33 hotels in Rosewood's global portfolio across 21 countries. IHG is set to debut in Kashmir, India, with voco Srinagar, a 95-room hotel opening in Q4 2026, expanding IHG’s Indian presence to 45 operating hotels and 50 more expected within five years. Soho House launched its first South American property in São Paulo, Brazil, with 32 rooms, a gym, and a rooftop pool bar. The Westin San Diego Bayview completed a $20 million renovation of its 436 rooms and 30,000 square feet of meeting spaces, managed by Aimbridge Hospitality with HVSDesign's architecture.

Briefs: Sheraton’s milestone in Greater China; SH Hotels unveils Mexico hotel

🏨 Sheraton Hotels & Resorts opened its 100th property in Greater China, marking its 50-year presence in the region. The Sheraton Lanzhou Anning in Gansu province offers 354 rooms, multiple dining options, a Sheraton Club, an indoor heated pool, fitness center, and 1,900 square meters of event space. Sheraton's global portfolio now exceeds 425 hotels in over 70 countries. SH Hotels & Resorts plans to open 1 Hotel & Homes San Miguel de Allende in Mexico by 2027, featuring 97 guestrooms, 48 residences, and various amenities. BWH Hotels reintroduced itself to Aruba with the opening of Aruba Boutique & Art Hotel in Palm Beach this April. Choice Hotels collaborates with Green Key Global to promote sustainability certification amongst U.S. franchisees.

Blackstone acquires Village Hotels from KSL

Village Hotels, with 33 properties and 4,400 keys across the U.K., offers full-service hotel stays and amenities including fitness clubs and co-working spaces. The deal, advised by Lazard and Santander for Blackstone and Morgan Stanley with Dentons for KSL, reinforces Blackstone's U.K. hospitality sector growth, following over £550 million ($695.44 million) investment in Bourne Leisure since 2021.

U.K. hotel investment surges to £3B in H1 2024: Knight Frank

🏨 U.K. hotel investments surged to £3 billion ($3.79 billion) in H1 2024, up from £990 million ($1,251 million) in H1 2023. Major deals include Blackstone’s £850 million purchase of Village Leisure, Starwood’s £800 million acquisition of Radisson Edwardian Hotels, and Landsec’s £400 million sale advised by Knight Frank. London attracted 70% of H1 investments, with U.S. investors dominating at 77%. Portfolio transactions accounted for 76% of total volume, a rise from 53% in H1 2019. Knight Frank anticipates a positive outlook and strong H2 with more hotel portfolios expected to sell. U.K. leads Europe with 321 new hotel projects/45,257 rooms in the pipeline by Q1 2024.

Hyatt acquires me and all hotels to boost expansion in Europe

🏨 Hyatt Hotels acquires me and all hotels from Lindner Hotels AG, expanding its European footprint. The deal, terms undisclosed, closed on Friday. The me and all brand, part of Hyatt’s portfolio since 2017, transitions from a nested to a standalone brand. Hyatt's global lifestyle portfolio's rooms quintupled by the end of 2023. The partnership began in 2022, enhancing Hyatt’s German and European presence. All Lindner properties integrated into Hyatt’s loyalty program, benefiting 46 million members. me and all has six hotels, over 1,000 rooms, and plans for new hotels in Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig, and Stuttgart by 2026.
