Azzurri to bring Dave’s Hot Chicken to UK

🍗 Dave’s Hot Chicken, founded by Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy Rubenyan in 2017, will open its first UK location in London in Q1 2025. The chain has over 200 restaurants and plans to open 90+ more in 2022. With seven spice levels, their menu includes hot chicken sliders and sides like mac and cheese. Backed by Samuel L. Jackson and Usher, the Los Angeles-born brand has sold rights to over 700 franchises in the US, Middle East, and Canada. Azzurri Group, with a portfolio including Zizzi and ASK Italian, will operate the UK expansion.

Andrew Edmunds Restaurant to temporarily close for structural works

🍴 Andrew Edmunds Restaurant, located in an 18th-century townhouse on Lexington Street, will temporarily close for structural works from 12 July and plans to reopen at the end of August. The restaurant, established in 1985 by the late Andrew Edmunds, continues to take advance bookings for private dining, wine tastings, and WSET courses. Edmunds, a significant figure in 'old Soho', died in September 2022 at age 79. Head chef Tom Trubshaw has been leading the kitchen since 2016.

Silo’s Fermentation Factory crowdfund reaches target

🗒 London's zero-waste restaurant Silo, led by Douglas McMaster, raised £11,127 from 88 backers for a 'Fermentation Factory' crowdfunding campaign, surpassing its goal with five days remaining. Offering £25 DIY Miso pledges or £100 group tours with McMaster and Ryan Walker, the factory is set to open in September. Founded in Brighton in 2014 and moved to London in 2019, Silo continues its mission to reduce waste in the food industry.

🍴 Located at Henrietta Experimental hotel in London’s Covent Garden, the Parisian-inspired restaurant Henri is a collaboration between Experimental Group and chef Jackson Boxer. Opening follows Cowley Manor Experimental's success. Menu features Parisian bistro cooking with snacks and entrees starting at £4 and larger dishes from £15 to £30. Cocktails named after French icons and a French-focused wine list. Interior combines Art Nouveau and British pub elements, paying homage to the historic market. Henri contributes to London's trend of rustic, accessible French bistros.

Burnt Ends rows back on plans to open Harrods restaurant

🍴 Singapore-based restaurant Burnt Ends, ranked 34th on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list and 15th on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list, has withdrawn plans to open at Harrods, London, announced in March last year. The collaboration ended due to the inability to install a four-tonne wood-burning oven and grills in the historic Grade II listed building. Chef-owner David Pynt founded Burnt Ends in 2012; the restaurant is now in Dempsey Hill, Singapore.

The Ivy gets go-ahead for first Liverpool restaurant

🍽 Liverpool City Council approved The Ivy Group's conversion of the Grade-I listed former Bank of England building for their first restaurant in Liverpool.
