IHG introduces Garner hotels to Europe

🏨 IHG Hotels & Resorts introduced Garner brand in Europe, launching three hotels in Germany with NOVUM Hospitality. Garner Hotel Hamburg Nord, Elmshorn, and Augsburg—opened within 10 days—add to 90+ Garner hotels globally. The Hamburg Nord has 100 rooms; Elmshorn has 75 rooms; Augsburg features 132 rooms. Aiming for 500 U.S. hotels in 10 years and 1,000 in 20, the first Garner hotel opened in Auburn, Wash. in August 2023. Northern Europe anticipates over 50 Garner hotels, part of IHG's German expansion to over 200 hotels.

Global RevPAR improves in Q3 fueled by major events, finds JLL study

Asia Pacific demand was unstable, influenced by China's economic slowdown. Cross-border investment surged, with U.S. private equity focusing on Europe and Asia. International travel nears full recovery, urban RevPAR outperforms 2019. Transactions in Q3 2024 reached $42.1 billion, 953 in total, with luxury trades exceeding $2 million each. Top markets were London ($2.1 billion), New York ($1.6 billion), and Osaka ($1.4 billion).

Oberoi Hotels steps into the U.K. with hotel in London’s Mayfair

🏦 Oberoi Hotels & Resorts enters the UK market with its first hotel, The Oberoi, Mayfair, in London. The 23-room luxury boutique hotel will be part of the South Molton development, after Grosvenor secured restoration permission in 2022 for the 33,000-square-foot Listed Building. Renovations started in November 2023, aiming for completion by 2027. Vikram Oberoi, managing director and CEO, sees it as pivotal for global expansion. EIH, Oberoi's parent company, set up a UK entity with £30 million share capital. The Oberoi Group, established in 1934, now operates 32 hotels in seven countries.

Peachtree Group adds Group 10 Management hotels to management portfolio

🏨 Peachtree Group partnered with Group 10 Management, adding 14 hotels with 1,648 rooms to reach over 100 managed hotels. Mostly in Detroit, the hotels are Marriott, Hilton, and IHG-branded. The new deal expands Peachtree's third-party management portfolio to 31 hotels, totaling 107 hotels and 13,485 rooms across 27 states, including Washington, D.C. Peachtree specializes in upper-midscale and upscale segments and focuses on strong financial results and guest experiences.

H World International acquires Zleep Hotels brand rights

🏨 H World International acquired full brand rights for Zleep Hotels, dissolving a joint venture and discontinuing operations in Denmark by January 2025. Zleep Hotel Frankfurt Airport Kelsterbach is set to open in Q1 2025. CEO Oliver Bonke plans to grow the brand in Central and Eastern Europe, with hotels in Madrid, Prague, Lausanne, and Zurich already established. Germany is a focus market, with openings in Frankfurt-Kelsterbach, Hamburg, Leipzig, and Göppingen planned. Ten new Zleep properties are under framework agreements, and negotiations for more are underway. Zleep Hotels combines Danish design with a minimalist aesthetic suitable for new builds or conversions.

Choice Hotels teams up with Faranda to expand Spanish portfolio

🏨 Choice Hotels collaborates with Faranda Hotels & Resorts, adding 8 hotels with over 700 rooms to Spain's Ascend Hotel Collection. Six hotels are now bookable, including the beachfront Faranda Hotel Rias Altas in A Coruña. Total partnership encompasses 22 hotels and roughly 2,400 rooms. Two additional hotels to open in summer 2025, joining properties across Galicia, Asturias, and Cantabria. Guests can earn rewards through the Choice Privileges program with over 66 million members.

Briefs: Marriott’s new luxury hotel in Indonesia; Kasa expands into New Orleans

🏡 Marriott announced the opening of The Sira, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Lombok, marking the third Luxury Collection hotel in Indonesia. Located 90 minutes from Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, The Sira offers 46 suites, 14 pool villas, a 1,400 square meter Beach House, three restaurants, a bar, a fitness center, a two-level outdoor pool, a spa, and event space. The Luxury Collection has over 115 properties in more than 40 countries.

Wyndham expands China presence, signs 600 hotels in five years

🚀 Wyndham Hotels & Resorts signed nearly 600 franchise agreements in China in 5 years. The company now operates over 1,600 hotels with more than 180,000 rooms across 13 brands in China, making it the largest U.S.-based hotel company in the country. In the first half of this year, more than 70 direct franchise agreements were signed in key markets like Beijing, Jiangsu, and Guangdong. Notable recent openings include Hawthorn by Wyndham Dali Erhai Park and La Quinta by Wyndham Weifang South.

Hyatt’s tommie Hollywood rebrands under Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio

🏝 Tommie Hollywood, opened in 2021, is rebranding as Hollywood Volume, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, under Marriott International, departing from Hyatt. The hotel, designed by Studio Collective, features 212 rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the city or Hollywood Hills, including seven top-floor one-bedroom suites. Managed by Ten Five Hospitality, it's located in Hollywood’s Vinyl District, near the refurbished W Hollywood. Known for unscripted LA experiences and a Yucatan-inspired restaurant, Ka’teen, the hotel offers pop-up parties, art installations, a social hour, and a rooftop country bar and pool. Despite the rebrand, culinary and nightlife offerings remain, as does the lobby-level meeting room accommodating up to 100 people. Hyatt, which acquired the Dream Hotel Group in 2023, is also potentially losing Thompson Hollywood to Marriott.

Reuben Brothers acquires W South Beach for $400M

🏨 The Reuben Brothers acquired the W South Beach hotel for $400 million from Tricap and RFR. The U.K.-based group, led by David and Simon Reuben, bought the property which includes 348 units and was developed by Tricap and RFR in 2009. The group plans renovations to enhance its luxury standing in Miami. The Reuben Brothers also own The Chesterfield in Palm Beach and have stakes in JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, and The Surrey in Manhattan. In Puerto Rico, they're developing the $2.6 billion Esencia community. Their combined net worth is $16.4 billion.
