Sage Hospitality expands in San Francisco with Hyatt Centric Fisherman’s Wharf

🏡 Sage Hospitality Group takes over management of Hyatt Centric Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, joining Sage's four other lifestyle hotels in the city, plus properties in Sonoma and Napa Valley. The partnership with Park Hotels & Resorts, initiated with Hilton Denver City Center in December 2024, expands with this 316-room hotel, featuring pet-friendly amenities, an outdoor heated pool, and a 24-hour fitness center. Park Hotels & Resorts boasts a portfolio of 40 hotels and resorts with nearly 25,000 rooms. Sage Hospitality, now in its 40th year, operates four companies.

Marriott expands Caribbean footprint with all-inclusive resort in Dominican Republic

🏖️ Marriott International launched Marriott Miches Beach in the Dominican Republic, marking its all-inclusive debut in the Caribbean. The former Sunrise Miches Beach Resort, renovated starting late 2024, offers nearly 1,000 feet of beachfront and will feature 500 suites upon completion. The resort combines family-friendly and adults-only sections, includes a waterpark, multiple pools, a luxury spa, fitness center, and 8,166 square feet of meeting space. Dining options will encompass 11 restaurants, including a seafood and raw bar, a South American and Caribbean cuisine restaurant, and a ramen shop. Marriott International’s Brian King highlighted the economic growth contribution to the Dominican Republic. Marriott Bonvoy's all-inclusive segment has over 20 properties globally.

Hyatt to expand Caribbean, Mexico footprint with Playa Hotels acquisition

🏖️ Hyatt Hotels to acquire Playa Hotels & Resorts for $2.6 billion, including $900 million debt, net of cash. Owning 9.4% of Playa shares, Hyatt gains full control of resorts in Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. This expands Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands and integrates properties into ALG Vacations and Unlimited Vacation Club. Deal financed by new debt, with 80% expected to be paid through asset sales, aiming to close later this year. Hyatt's all-inclusive portfolio will grow to 55,000 rooms. Company plans $2 billion in asset sales by 2027, with asset-light earnings to exceed 90%. Advisors include BDT & MSD Partners, Berkadia, with legal from Latham & Watkins LLP.

IHG expands in Saudi Arabia with Regent hotel in Makkah

Shiva Hotels secures £300M refinancing for The BoTree

🏨 Shiva Hotels secured a £300 million refinancing for The BoTree in London, the largest single-asset hotel deal in Europe post-pandemic. BlueWater Capital provided £170 million, NorthWall Capital £140 million, replacing a previous loan from Cale Street and Crosstree. Upgrades include a rooftop pool, wellness space, and expanded facilities. The BoTree, opened in 2023, cost £375 million, featuring 199 rooms and was put up for sale in October 2024 after a £275 million loan recovery attempt by its lenders.

Wyndham expands in Europe with 25 new hotels

🏨 Europe's travel to see 747 million arrivals in 2024. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts adds 25 new city hotels across Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, in partnership with HR Group. The expansion enhances Wyndham's European presence, under Trademark Collection and Vienna House Easy brands. Fourside Hotel Salzburg and Vienna House Easy Amsterdam are highlighted locations. Wyndham's global reach, technology, and loyalty program merge with HR Group's local expertise for seamless travel experiences. Eight hotels join Vienna House Easy, with the rest joining the Trademark Collection. This follows HR Group's 2024 acquisition of Centro Holding and Centro Hotel Management.

Marriott’s biggest year in APEC: Over 21,000 rooms added to pipeline

🏨 Marriott International signed 109 new hotel deals in the Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) in 2024, adding 21,439 rooms, a 12% increase from the previous year, to a total APEC pipeline of 77,532 rooms. By the end of 2024, Marriott had 635 open properties across 25 brands in 22 countries and territories in the APEC. India, Japan, and Indonesia accounted for 72% of the signings. 19% of new deals were in the luxury segment, with notable openings including EDITION in Jakarta and Mumbai; The Ritz-Carlton in Jaipur and Udaipur; and a second W Hotels in Singapore. Conversions were 36% of signings, with 14 properties in 10 Japanese cities rebranded to Four Points Flex by Sheraton. New market entries included Papua New Guinea and brand debuts like Moxy Hotels in India, Malaysia, and Thailand. Major hotel openings marked the 600th APEC property in Adelaide, the 150th in India, the 50th in Malaysia, and the 100th in Japan.

Hyatt strengthens all-inclusive portfolio with Punta Cana resort

🏕 Hyatt Hotels announces the opening of Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, the first Hyatt Vivid-branded adults-only resort, launching late 2023. Partnering with Anacaona de Inversiones, this will be the second Hyatt Vivid property after the brand's 2024 inception. Offering four pools, swim-out rooms, a wet bar, spa, gyms, courts, and a healthy snack bar. Dining includes five restaurants and a convention center for 1,000 guests. Hyatt aims to grow its all-inclusive Dominican Republic presence by 30% in 2023, following recent area openings and the Chicago-based company's global reach of over 1,350 properties in 79 countries.

Maybourne to bring palace-style hotel, residences to Paris

🏦 Luxury hotel group Maybourne to open The Maybourne Saint-Germain in Paris in 2027, transforming the 17th-century Îlot Saint-Germain into a 101-room hotel with 23 ultra-luxury branded residences—the first in Paris. It will feature 50 suites, 51 rooms, six dining venues, a large spa, health club, and three pools, including a 30-meter rooftop pool. Maybourne, owned by Qatari royals Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, aims to triple its portfolio by 2035 to 15-17 properties.

Radisson Hotel Group widens global footprint with record growth in 2024

🏨 Radisson Hotel Group ended 2024 with nearly 40,000 new rooms, dominating as the leading upper upscale brand in Europe for the 13th year and the upscale resort segment in EMEA. Radisson Collection reached nearly 70 hotels, with notable openings in Rome and Srinagar and signings in Paris, Madrid, and Riyadh. In May 2024, the art’otel brand launched in London and plans to debut in Rome. Radisson Blu added over 20 hotels, entering markets like Casablanca and Conakry. Radisson RED expanded to Vietnam, Germany, New Zealand, Laos, Ireland, and Thailand. Radisson Individuals added 15 properties across APAC and EMEA, including within the Bolton Wanderers Football Club stadium in the U.K. Prizeotel was rebranded to Prize by Radisson, announcing additions in Poland and Germany. Radisson's portfolio includes over 1,460 hotels across 100 countries.
