Marriott to open world’s largest Courtyard hotel in Saudi Arabia

🏥 Marriott International to open the world's largest Courtyard by Marriott in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, by 2026, in collaboration with Al Qimmah Hospitality and Amwaj Real Estate, subsidiaries of BinDawood Trading. The Courtyard by Marriott Makkah Al Naseem will feature 2,179 guest rooms, a restaurant for 1,800+ guests, and align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to boost religious tourism, aiming for 30 million tourists annually by decade's end. Makkah received 13.5 million pilgrims in 2023. Marriott International operates over 1,300 Courtyard properties globally.

The Admiral Fell Inn to rebrand under Hilton’s Tapestry Collection

🏡 The Admiral Fell Inn in Baltimore's Fells Point will reopen as The William Fell, a Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel, after a multimillion-dollar renovation in April. Owned by Meyer Jabara Hotels, which also operates 31 hotels and 20 restaurants, it's their first Hilton-branded property and third in Baltimore. The renovation by RD Jones + Associates includes a preserved 18th-century exterior, a modern interior with nautical art, and various room options. The hotel honors William Fell, Fells Point's first settler. Meyer Jabara Hotels was founded in 1977.

Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Station, Honmachi Midosuji, and Honmachi Kita Semba each celebrate local culture and modern amenities. Opened after Garner's European debut in November 2024 and U.S. launch in 2023, aiming for 500 hotels in 10 years and 1,000 in 20 years in the U.S. Garner targets growth in Germany, Netherlands, Austria, U.K., and Turkey.

Dusit International expands in the Philippines with two new hotels

🏡 Dusit International, a Thai hotel company, partners with IDC Prime to manage two new hotels in Mindanao, Philippines, under the Dusit Princess brand. The hotels, located in Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro, are opening in late 2029. Dusit Princess Moena in Bukidnon will feature 184 rooms and facilities like a business center, dining restaurant, and gym. The 14-story Dusit Princess Firenze in Cagayan de Oro will have 180 rooms and amenities like a gym and spa. These projects join Dusit's 302 properties in 19 countries and expand its Philippine presence, which includes Manila, Cebu, Davao, and Samal Island.

Adagio expands into Luxembourg with new aparthotel

🏠 Adagio will open a new aparthotel in Luxembourg's Cloche d’Or district in 2027, expanding to 17 countries. The "Botanica – Your Office Resort" development includes 520,000 square meters of office space, set to grow by 50% by 2027. The Luxtram extension, planned for 2031, will improve connectivity with a stop at Botanica. The aparthotel features 121 "Smart House" apartments, a fitness center, laundry, and "The Circle" common area. Adagio, founded in 2007, now has 129 sites with 14,733 apartments in 16 countries, offered under three brands. The sustainability-focused project is in partnership with CODIC.

U.K. real estate tops Europe amid new investment trends

🏢 The U.K. retains its position as Europe's top destination for real estate investment, as reported by Cushman & Wakefield's 'Visions'. London’s office market is the most liquid globally, with total sector returns of 1.5% in Q3 2024, a two-year peak. Refurbished office spaces made up 68% of 2023 leasing activity; central London prime rents are predicted to increase by 4.4% annually until 2028, and top 10% rents by 7.6% annually. Leisure investments soared 250% from 2018-2019 to 2022-2023, reaching £225 million. U.K. net-zero emission goals by 2050 could cost £71 billion. ESG-focused investments rose to 23% of 2023 real estate investments, with ESG funds increasing from £1.1 billion to £4.3 billion annually between 2015-2020. Optimism remains high for the U.K. real estate market in 2025.

CoralTree Hospitality to manage Utah’s Black Desert and Red Mountain resorts

🏖 CoralTree Hospitality now manages Black Desert Resort and Red Mountain Resort in Utah's Greater Zion region. Black Desert Resort, a 600-acre property, offers 800 rooms, a 45,000-square-foot convention center, 15,000-square-foot spa, and a 19-hole par-72 golf course designed by Tom Weiskopf. The course hosted the PGA TOUR's Black Desert Championship and will welcome the LPGA Tour in April. Red Mountain Resort spans 55 acres, provides 130 rooms, and features daily activities and an award-winning spa. Both resorts emphasize community engagement, outdoor activities, and sustainability.

Minor Hotels expands China footprint with new Anantara resort

❄ Minor Hotels will debut Anantara Hotels & Resorts in Sichuan, China with the opening of Anantara Xiling Snow Mountain Chengdu Resort in October. Developed with Sichuan Dexinhousheng Enterprise Management Co., Ltd, the 111-room resort near Chengdu offers access to the National 5A Tourist Attraction and features guest accommodations from 100 to 500 square meters. Amenities include a swimming pool, spa, and an 800 square meter event space. Anantara Xiling Snow Mountain Chengdu Resort is Minor Hotels' third property in China, contributing to its target of over 200 hotels by 2026, adding to its current portfolio of 560 hotels across 57 countries.

BWH Hotels ventures into the Dominican Republic

Club Quarters launches digital wallet-based room keys across portfolio

🏨 Club Quarters becomes the first hotel chain to offer digital room keys across all its U.S. and U.K. properties, compatible with Apple and Android devices. Introduced in 2017 via an app, the system now allows guests to add their room key directly to their mobile wallet from a confirmation email. The Vingcard-powered system offers a convenient, secure check-in process, with the digital key functioning even if a phone's battery dies, for up to five hours. Club Quarters CEO John Paul Nichols expects digital keys to replace traditional key cards.
