W Hotels arrives in Brazil with hotel, branded residences

🏠 Marriott International's luxury lifestyle brand, W Hotels, opened W São Paulo in Brazil, featuring 179 rooms, 16 suites, two restaurants, three bars, a spa, gym, outdoor pool, and five event spaces. The hotel is located in a skyscraper on Rua Funchal. Additionally, the W Residences São Paulo offers 216 units across 21 floors, with amenities like an indoor pool, saunas, gym, and co-working spaces. W Hotels now has 70 destinations worldwide.

CoralTree Hospitality to manage Poco Diablo Resort

🏝 CoralTree Hospitality now manages Poco Diablo Resort in Sedona, Arizona. The 137-room resort, to be rebranded as Outbound Sedona, will experience renovations including an enhanced spa, renovated rooms, and reimagined public spaces. It offers amenities like Willows Kitchen & Wine Bar, a heated pool, and 8,500 sq ft of meeting space. Nearby, guests have access to Sedona Golf Resort's par-71 course. CoralTree, founded in 2018, has over 35 properties and is a subsidiary of Lowe.

Albert Hotel opens its doors in Fredericksburg, Texas

🏡 New Waterloo opened Albert Hotel in Fredericksburg, Texas on January 3. The company will launch Fidelity Hotel in Cleveland on January 27. The Albert Hotel, with 105 guest rooms, includes the historic Albertina House and offers dining, a spa, and event spaces totaling 3,600 sq ft. Michelin-starred Chef Michael Fojtasek leads The Restaurant at Albert Hotel. The Spa will open later in the week, featuring seven treatment rooms. Event capacities are up to 220 guests indoors and 90 outdoors.

LyLo eyes London for European expansion of pod hotel concept

🏨 Australian hospitality group EVT's LyLo plans to expand its pod hotel concept to Europe, eyeing London for its first property. P-Three appointed as sole agent to find locations in central areas, including Southwark, for 15,000-50,000 square foot spaces. LyLo operates 608 pods, 40 private rooms, and 170 ensuite rooms across New Zealand and Australia, with two more sites under development. Targeting 18-35-year-olds, digital nomads, and sports groups, the concept boasts affordability and communal design. London's dynamic traveler base viewed as an ideal entry point into the European market.

Accor to introduce Pullman in Armenia

🏦 Accor to introduce Pullman to Armenia by partnering with Technotun for residences in Yerevan, opening in 2027. Philippe Bone of Accor and Tigran Mnatsakanyan of Technotun finalized the agreement. The complex in Norki Ayginer will feature 'No Car' policy, sustainable elements like bike lanes, and electric vehicle charging stations within a 20,000-square-meter area, including 16,000 square meters of open spaces. Memorandum of understanding signed in July 2024. Pullman has over 150 hotels globally.

Playa Hotels & Resorts to sell Jamaica resort

🏖 Playa Hotels & Resorts to sell Jewel Paradise Cove in Jamaica for $28.5 million in cash; closing expected Q1 2025. Adult-only resort opened in December 2013; third Jamaican resort sold by Playa in five years. Sandals Dunn’s River, the former Jewel Dunn’s River, reopened in May 2023. Playa's Jamaican resort revenue decreased by 14% to $147.03 million, occupancy dropped from 80.8% to 72.9% in 2024. Jewel Palm Beach and Jewel Punta Cana sold for $68 million and $82 million, respectively. Playa manages 24 resorts and 8,627 rooms across Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.

Hyatt debuts Hyatt Centric brand in Nepal

The property features a redesigned lobby and amenities for modern travelers, aiming to weave Kathmandu's essence into every aspect of the guest experience.

Shangri-La debuts in Cambodia with Phnom Penh hotel

🏙 Shangri-La Group launches in Cambodia with a waterfront hotel in Phnom Penh's Koh Pich district, opened December 28, 2024. The 303-room Shangri-La Phnom Penh is part of a 228-meter tri-tower, one of the tallest in the city, offering views of the Mekong, Tonle Sap, and Tonle Bassac rivers. Interiors feature a mix of Art Deco, neo-classical, and Khmer styles. Facilities to include a large ballroom, infinity pool, and spa. Cambodia's hotel market is expected to reach $93.85 million by 2025. Shangri-La operates over 100 hotels worldwide.

Meliá Hotels to develop luxury hotel in southern Argentina

🏡 Meliá Hotels International, in collaboration with Grupo Mirgor, will open a $50 million luxury hotel in Ushuaia, Argentina by 2028, under the Gran Meliá brand. Promising to be the southernmost in Meliá's portfolio, it will feature 200 rooms, two restaurants, bars, an 800-person auditorium, pools, spa, gym, and other amenities. The project aims to enhance Tierra del Fuego's economy, is expected to create 200 jobs, and aligns with Grupo Mirgor's diversification strategy. Meliá operates four other hotels in Argentina and is expanding in LATAM.

U.K. hotel investment touched six-year high in 2024: Savills

🏨 U.K. hotel investment transactions reached £5.75 billion in 2024, a more than 100% increase from 2023, highest since 2018. Portfolio transactions comprised 55% at £3.14 billion, with a 582% year-on-year increase. Regional transactions at £3.34 billion, 58% of total, were up 217% year-on-year. London transactions grew by 105% to £2.40 billion. Key investors include Blackstone, KKR, and Starwood Capital. Deloitte reports 72% of hospitality executives are optimistic about the sector, with a focus on cash flow management and expected increase in M&A activity.
