Hollywood landmark Yamashiro has opened in Miami, with more locations to come

🍴 Yamashiro, established in the Hollywood Hills in 1914, expanded to a new Miami location on October 29, after 111 years. Boulevard Hospitality Group leads the expansion with a 9,000-square-foot rooftop restaurant at Gale Miami Hotel. The menu, crafted by chefs Charbel Hayek and Gustavo Montes, blends Japanese and Miami flavors. Features include Japanese-inspired design and cocktails. Future expansions are planned for the East Coast by late 2026, with two new locations in development.

Major Food Group debuts Carbone Riviera, a new seafood concept, at Bellagio in Las Vegas

🍴 Major Food Group opened Carbone Riviera on November 7 at Bellagio, Las Vegas. The 240-seat restaurant, crafted with designer Martin Brudnizki and MGM Resorts, occupies the former Picasso space by the Bellagio fountains. Inspired by coastal Italy, it features a seafood program with dishes like whole fish, linguine in red clam sauce, and Scottish langoustines. The menu includes an extensive wine list and unique cocktails. Carbone Riviera joins other MFG brands like Sadelle’s and Carbone at Aria.

Maydan Market in Los Angeles features seven food businesses and a communal hearth

🍴 Maydan Market, by Rose Previte, opened on October 1 in a 10,000-square-foot warehouse in Los Angeles' West Adams. It features a mix of restaurants, vendors, and a bazaar. Inspired by global markets, it includes a communal hearth and diverse culinary concepts like Maléna and Yhing Yhang. Compass Rose, originally opened in D.C. in 2014, joins Maydan Market. Club 104 offers rotating chef residencies, while Sook provides Middle Eastern pantry staples and grab-and-go foods.

Big Dill Hospitality’s newest restaurant is Casa Brasa, a Latin American-inspired, live-fire grill and sushi concept in Dallas

🍳 Casa Brasa opened on October 27 in Dallas, marking Big Dill Hospitality’s fourth concept. Chef Omar Flores and the Marshi family researched grills and sushi across Latin America, Dubai, Europe, Miami, and NYC. The 10,000 sq. ft. space features an open-fire grill, raw bar, and sushi counter. Menu highlights include Hokkaido scallop aguachile, the signature Casa Brasa Roll, and a 40-ounce tomahawk rib eye. The Kamilla bar offers creative cocktails and hosts DJs. Maroma, a coastal Mexican concept, opens in December.

Omakase Room expands to Washington, D.C., with chef Tadayoshi Motoa at the helm

🍴 New York City's the Group Hospitality expanded to Washington, D.C., with the Omakase Room by Tadayoshi on September 27. This is their third D.C. restaurant and fourth Omakase location overall. Chef Tadayoshi Motoa, known for Michelin-starred Restaurant Toki in Madrid, oversees a 20-course menu with a $200 prix fixe. The minimalist 12-seat space at 14th and G Street N.W. offers 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. seatings.

Prince Street Pizza continues its national expansion with a new Dallas location

🍕 In 2012, Prince St. Pizza debuted in NYC's Nolita, gaining fame for its Sicilian and Neapolitan pies. Lawrence Longo became CEO in 2020, expanding the brand after a successful 2019 LA pop-up. Now, with 17 stores, the latest opens Oct. 24 in Dallas, featuring a 1,200 sq. ft. space and extended hours until 3 a.m. on weekends. Future locations include Miami, Nashville, Charleston, and Monmouth. Longo's goal: be America's top premium slice shop.

Avra Estiatorio expands to Dallas, opens its fourth location in New York City

🍴 October 14, 2023, New York: Avra Group opened its largest 20,000 sq. ft. restaurant at Moynihan Train Hall, seating 400, including four private rooms. The Dallas location, launched on September 19, covers 14,000 sq. ft. and accommodates 350. Both designed by Rockwell Group. Avra emphasizes Mediterranean ingredients, featuring seafood from Southern Europe, US-sourced lamb and beef, and Greek olive oil. The menu includes seafood displays, steaks, and traditional Greek dishes, paired with global wines.

Mexican Sugar is now open in Addison, Texas, serving Latin-inspired cuisine and lots of tequila

🍴 On September 22, Mexican Sugar, by Texas-based Front Burner Restaurants, opened its fifth location in Addison, Texas, after Dallas and Houston. A 9,000 sq. ft. venue features a tequila display and a 360-degree bar. Unique to Addison is a custom wood-fired oven. The menu includes agave-spirit flights, with happy hour from Monday to Friday, 2-6 p.m. Future locations planned for Austin and Frisco. Mexican Sugar blends Latin American inspiration, crafting dishes from scratch and using fresh ingredients.
