Lodging Econometrics: Global Hotel Construction Pipeline Reaches Record-High in Q2 2025
🏨 Q2 2025 saw a record-high 15,871 hotel construction projects worldwide, including 2,436,225 rooms, a 3% increase YOY. The U.S. and China dominated with 6,280 and 3,733 projects respectively, representing 64% of global activity. Dallas led cities with 199 projects. 970 new hotels opened in the first half of 2025, with 1,884 more expected by year-end. By 2026, 2,531 new hotels are forecasted, and 2,554 in 2027. Upper midscale and upscale chains held 52% of projects.
