European hotel performance: the best of both worlds in September

📈 In September 2025, UK hotel occupancy rose by 2.6 points, increasing average prices by 4.2%, with RevPAR up 7.5% from 2024. Spain saw a RevPAR growth of 4.4%, with OT up 1.2 points and ADR up 3.2%. France recorded a 1.7% RevPAR increase, with Fashion Week boosting TO by 5 points. Germany's RevPAR fell by 4.4%, with ADR down 4.6%. Central Europe was active with trade shows and conferences.

📍 European hoteliers see a performance boost at the start of the school year. RevPAR rose 2.9%, led by the upscale and luxury segment with a 5% increase. The midscale segment saw a 2.2% rise. Average daily rates increased by 1.5%, below the eurozone's September inflation of 2.2%. EU inflation was 2.6%. Occupancy improved by 1.1 points, notably by 1.7 points in the upscale and luxury sector.

A new lifestyle player for Austria’s hospitality market

🏨 IHG Hotels & Resorts and tristar Austria GmbH will open the Kimpton Salzburg hotel in mid-2028. Located along Salzburg's historic riverbanks, the hotel will feature 119 rooms, including 11 suites, and offer amenities like a fitness center and wellness area. This marks Kimpton's debut in Austria and strengthens IHG's presence in the DACH region, with 210 open hotels and 63 under development. The hotel aims to attract both business and leisure travelers.
