Dear Olivia Bar & Kitchen opens in Parkland, Fla.

🍴 Dear Olivia Bar & Kitchen opened in Parkland, near Boca Raton, Florida. Led by Eddie and Christina Pozzuoli, and Paul Greenberg, it seats 82 inside, with an additional 36 seats at the indoor/outdoor bar. The deck, overlooking a lagoon, accommodates 90 patrons. Named after Greenberg's daughter, the venue offers diverse menu options and is not a traditional sports bar. The beverage program is by Jose Gill. Designed with soft tones, it replaces the former Déjà Blue space.

Tacomasa plans 4th taqueria in Southern California

🌮 Tacomasa, a Tijuana-style taqueria by Ivan Flores, opens its fourth Southern California location in Brea on Aug. 15, 2025. With previous openings in Long Beach (2021), Cypress (2023), and El Segundo (2024), the new 1,715 sq. ft. space seats 52. New offerings include aguas frescas and soft-serve ice cream. Signature dishes: adobada pork, asada, and mesquite-grilled pollo asado. Flores's ventures, including The Buffalo Spot, expanded to 30+ locations before selling in 2025.

Vandelay Hospitality plans 9th Hudson House in Frisco, Texas

📍 Vandelay Hospitality Group will open its ninth Hudson House restaurant on August 6 in Frisco, Texas. This marks its seventh location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The original Hudson House launched in Highland Park, Texas, in 2017. Known for its signature cheeseburger and “World’s Coldest Martini,” the new location will feature leather booths, a wraparound bar, and outdoor patio. Vandelay operates 21 restaurants, including Drake’s Hollywood and Anchor Sushi Bar.

Hello Hello bar-café opens in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood

🍹 Luis Hernandez, Brendan Bartley, and Robert Nieves opened Hello Hello on July 9 in New York City's Chelsea. The venue offers a café by day and a cocktail bar by night at 151 W 26th St. Drinks are priced at $18 and under. Café hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and bar hours are 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. DJs play Thursday-Saturday. Designed by West Chin Architects, it features a 1970s-inspired decor.

Cole’s French Dip to close in Los Angeles Aug. 2

🍴 Cole's French Dip, a Los Angeles staple since 1908, will close on August 2, 2025, after 117 years. Owner Cedd Moses cites the COVID-19 pandemic, 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes, and rising costs as reasons. Moses's Pouring With Heart also closed the Varnish in 2024. Cole’s, known for its French Dip Sandwich, faced competition from Philippe the Original. In 2008, Moses's 213 Nightlife restored Cole's for $1.6 million. Moses continues to operate other nightlife venues in downtown LA.

Artistry Restaurants plans to open 3rd Boca location

Key personnel include Derek Bornstein as GM, Megan Centeio as assistant GM, and Francisco Arroyo as executive chef. Artistry oversees 50+ restaurants across five states under seven brands. Plans include three new Oak & Stone locations in Cape Coral, Winter Park, and McKinney, Texas.

O-Ku offers custom sushi boards for private events, fostering community partnerships. Food Network star Anne Burrell dies at 55

🍽 Anne Burrell, 55, died on June 17, 2025, at her Brooklyn home. Born on September 21, 1969, in Cazenovia, NY, she was a Food Network star, known for "Worst Cooks in America." Burrell graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1996 and authored two cookbooks. She supported several philanthropic causes, including the Garden of Dreams Foundation. Survived by her husband Stuart Claxton, his son, and her children, Burrell's culinary legacy and philanthropic commitments remain influential.

Netflix House to add 3rd location in Las Vegas

📺 Netflix will open its third Netflix House on the Las Vegas Strip in 2027. The first two locations in Philadelphia and Dallas open in late 2025. Spanning 100,000 square feet, these venues feature popular shows like “Wednesday” and “Squid Game.” Both locations will include food services, and Philadelphia will offer mini golf. Netflix Bites will serve dishes inspired by shows and movies, bringing streaming stories to life for fans.
