Our job is simple: give hoteliers useful knowledge they can put to work fast, in about ten minutes. Here’s how we choose what makes the cut.
Our mission
We publish helpful, informative news that helps hoteliers understand where the market is heading and what to do about it. We deliberately steer clear of sensationalism and the race for breaking news. The goal is a community of well-informed hoteliers with insights they can act on the same day.
Most of what we publish is curated
The bulk of 10 Minutes Hotel News is aggregated content. We select stories from reputable news outlets, trade publications, research firms and consultants, and from hotel vendors of every kind, technology or otherwise: distribution, revenue, marketing, F&B, design, operations, sustainability and more. For each story we:
- name the original publisher and link back to the source, so the people who did the work get the credit and the clicks;
- keep summaries short and faithful to the original;
- favour primary sources (the study, the company announcement, the data) over commentary about them.
How we choose and rank stories
Our editors pick and order stories according to this policy, not according to what’s loudest that day:
- Information and data come first. Market figures, research, regulation and trends that affect how hotels run and sell rank above everything else.
- Useful beats sensational. A practical insight a hotelier can apply this week outranks a dramatic headline with nothing behind it.
- Quick to use. We favour knowledge you can absorb and act on rapidly. That’s the whole point of ten minutes.
- Relevance to hoteliers. If it won’t help a decision at a hotel, a group or a hotel supplier, it probably won’t make the cut.
- Variety of voices. We mix news outlets, vendors, consultants and operators so you get the full picture, not one camp’s view.
Sponsors and advertisers have no say in which stories we select or how we rank them.
Our own content
Some of what we publish is ours, and we make that clear:
- Columns: signed opinion pieces by named contributors, filed under Columns with an author bio. Columnists’ views are their own.
- Research & data: our own analysis, rankings, market maps and downloadable visuals, with sources stated.
- Cover-page summaries: overviews of each topic, rewritten and summarised by our team.
We use AI tools to help summarise and translate. Our human editors review AI-assisted content regularly, though not every single item is checked by hand before it goes out.
Press releases and sponsored content
- Press releases are credited to the issuing company.
- Sponsored content and paid placements are labelled as such, with the sponsor named. Sponsors are shown as sponsors, never disguised as news.
Send us your news
Hotel vendors of every kind (tech or otherwise), hotel groups, consultants and PR agencies are welcome to send us news, press releases, data and RSS feeds through our contact page, so their insights and content can be included. Feeds we add become part of the pool we curate from. Everything goes through the same selection rules above, and sending a story doesn’t buy a slot.
