The hotel industry is vast and constantly evolving, with thousands of brands and dozens of holding companies operating across every segment of the market. To help make sense of this complexity, the team at 10 Minutes Hotels created the Global Hotel Brands Infographic, a comprehensive map that shows the world’s major hotel groups and how their brands are positioned.

Why we made this

This project was inspired by the earlier Hotel Brands Pyramid infographic, which attempted to sort hotel brands from luxury to budget. While useful, that version was incomplete. It left out many brands, was not organized by holding company, and appeared more like a random list than a structured guide. We wanted to create something more accurate, more complete, and easier to use as a reference for the hotel industry.

How it’s organized

Our team conducted in-depth research into every major hotel brand and holding company worldwide, then classified them into eight categories:

  1. Luxury
  2. Premium
  3. Upscale
  4. Boutique & Lifestyle
  5. Midscale
  6. Economy
  7. Extended Stay
  8. All-Inclusive

Each brand was tagged and placed in this sequence as closely as possible. However, since many holding companies do not operate across every category, the chart is not a strict placement. Instead, it is designed to show a general flow from high-end in the center to budget and long-stay at the edges. Delimiter lines between categories act as reference points rather than hard boundaries.

A free resource for the industry

We created this infographic as a free resource for the hospitality industry. Anyone is welcome to share it in newsletters, websites, presentations, videos, social media, or other professional and promotional work as long as the correct source is attributed. The only condition is that it must not be altered without our permission.

A living chart

The hotel landscape changes constantly with new brands launching, acquisitions reshaping portfolios, and independent groups joining larger systems. For this reason, the infographic will be updated regularly. In future editions, we expect the biggest changes to appear in the independent groups section where consolidation is fastest.

If you notice a missing brand or spot something that could be improved, we welcome your input. In addition to the missing brand’s name please share details such as the number of hotels, ownership, and holding company affiliation so we can include them in the next update.

Download and use

A high-resolution PDF version of the infographic is available for free download here. It can be printed, published, or used for training and research purposes.

This resource is designed to be as comprehensive and useful as possible. We hope it helps hoteliers, students, consultants, influencers, and anyone interested in the industry to better understand the global hotel brand landscape.
