Oasis tour sees London room rates hit record highs in July

🏨 London, July 2025: The hotel industry achieved record highs in ADR and RevPAR, driven by events like the Oasis tour and Wimbledon. ADR reached £234.58, up 2.4%, while RevPAR rose 3.3% to £207.93. Occupancy hit 88.6%, the highest since July 2018. On 12 July, during Wimbledon’s women’s final, occupancy peaked at 94.7%, ADR at £276.72, and RevPAR at £262.01. The Oasis concert on 26 July recorded 91.6% occupancy, £239.33 ADR, and £219.15 RevPAR.

Occupancy drives higher H1 revenues for PPHE but EBITDA falls

RevPAR increased 1.4% to £109.3, while wage cost inflation was reduced to under 3%. They acquired a development site near the City of London for £17.5m, planning a £90m investment. Trading patterns are consistent, with EBITDA expected to match FY24.

Accor appoints Ranju Alex as South Asia CEO

The Castle Hotel in Tamworth sold to private investor

🏨 Castle Hotel in Tamworth, a Grade II listed property from the 17th century, was sold by Watling Real Estate. Closed since January 2025, it has 20 ensuite bedrooms, two event suites, an 80-seat restaurant, and a bar. The former nightclub received 2022 planning consent to convert into two apartments. Located near Tamworth Castle, the 20,409 sq ft site will be refurbished and reopened by a private investor, promising new jobs and visitors.

Hospitality insolvencies ease slightly in H1 but still ‘historically high’

🏨 Hospitality insolvencies in the first half of 2025 slightly decreased to 1,706 cases, down 5.5% from 1,806 in the same period of 2024. However, Q2 saw a rise of 6.5% over Q1, with 880 companies affected. Monthly insolvencies have consistently exceeded 270. The Hospitality Index increased from 181.2 in March to 197.3 in June, with a peak of 273.4 in August 2023. Businesses face an estimated £3.4bn in additional expenses, partly due to National Insurance contributions.
