🗺 In July 2026, TravelAI, the operating name of UpNext Ventures Inc., acquired the Sonder brand, including its trademarks and over 70 domain names like Sonder.com, through a court-supervised bankruptcy in Canada. The acquisition excludes Sonder’s operational business. The new Sonder.com, launched as a curated guide for urban stays, features accommodations in major cities worldwide. This purchase was approved by the Superior Court of Québec on July 6, 2026.

U.S. Hotel Construction Pipeline Reaches 5,975 Projects with 703,001 Rooms in Q2 2026, Led by Upper Midscale and Upscale Chains

🏨 According to the Q2 2026 U.S. Construction Pipeline Trend Report, 5,975 projects with 703,001 rooms were in the pipeline. Mid-2026 saw 1,081 projects (133,216 rooms) under construction. New project announcements totaled 280 projects/33,423 rooms, up 18% in projects YOY. U.S. openings in 2026 are forecasted at 661 hotels/74,820 rooms. For 2027, 738 hotels/78,909 rooms are projected, and 2028 expects 832 hotels/88,321 rooms, marking industry growth.
