Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne sets out on $100M renovation

🏨 The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami is undergoing a $100 million renovation, set for completion in December. This first full-scale update since its 2001 opening affects its 420 rooms, public spaces, and amenities across the 13-story, 17-acre property. Enhancements include a new restaurant, refreshed existing venues, redesigned lobby and spa, and updates to pools and event spaces. Gencom, owning 23 assets with over 6,000 rooms, emphasizes the property's luxury standard.

Curio Collection by Hilton arrives in Vienna

🏨 Hilton has expanded in Austria with the Astoria Hotel Vienna, its first Curio Collection property in Vienna, located in the 1st district. Originally opened in 1912, the hotel now features 125 rooms, including eight suites, after a renovation by the Verkehrsbüro Group. It offers a fusion of Art Deco style and modern amenities, including four conference rooms, a Great Salon with Viennese cuisine, and the Astoria Bar with local drinks. Marriott and VERKEHRSBUERO to convert five hotels in Austria

🏦 Marriott International and VERKEHRSBUERO HOSPITALITY sign an agreement to convert five Austria Trend Hotels into Marriott-branded properties, adding more than 1,100 rooms to Marriott's Austrian presence. The rebranding includes the debut of Four Points Flex by Sheraton in Austria and the historic Parkhotel Schönbrunn joining the Tribute Portfolio. Expected transitions: Four Points Flex by Sheraton Vienna Hauptbahnhof by Q3 2025, Four Points Flex by Sheraton Vienna Mariahilf by 2026, and more. Marriott seeks European growth through conversions, now with 21 properties and nearly 4,000 rooms in Austria.

Disney to open new theme park in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island

Chicken N Pickle to open 12th location with Allen, Texas, venue

🍳 Chicken N Pickle, an indoor/outdoor eatertainment complex, is set to open its new location in Allen, Texas, on May 13. This North Kansas City, Mo.-based company's Allen venue marks its fifth in Texas and 12th overall, featuring more than 55,000 square feet, dining areas, a sports bar, six indoor and two covered outdoor pickleball courts, beer gardens, and various yard games. The location, part of The Farm mixed-use development, also champions inclusive "pickleball for all" through sports wheelchairs and dedicated programming. With NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce's backing, Chicken N Pickle is expanding rapidly, planning four more locations in Indiana, Nebraska, and Colorado by early 2026.

Tulsa plans new convention center Hotel

🏨 Tulsa, Oklahoma, to build a 650-room hotel connected to the downtown Arvest Business Convention Center, with construction starting in 2026 and expected to finish by 2029. The $390 million project aims to enhance Tulsa's meetings and events infrastructure. Visit Tulsa tourism board revealed that the hotel's design contract is being contested by three firms, with a developer selection in June. The hotel will boost Tulsa’s capacity for large-scale events, complementing the 275,000-square-foot convention center. Tulsa's events currently generate an annual economic impact exceeding $327 million. The development marks a significant step in establishing Tulsa as a major meetings and conventions destination in central U.S.

‘Top Chef; winner Mei Lin opens 88 Club, a fine-dining Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles

🍽 Restaurateurs Francis Miranda and "Top Chef" winner Mei Lin opened 88 Club in Beverly Hills, Calif. Designed by Preen, the restaurant features 44 dining seats, 5 bar seats, and a private area. The decor includes dark woods, plush seating, marble accents, and jade details. The family-style menu offers dishes like mung bean jelly noodles, prawn wontons, kung pao scallops, mapo tofu, and desserts like jasmine milk tea buns. Sommelier Diana Lee oversees the beverage program, with cocktails like a pickled mustard greens Martini. Miranda and Lin also partnered on Daybird and formerly on Nightshade, the latter closed due to the pandemic.

Long Island chef Eric LeVine opens two restaurants in his hometown of Brooklyn

Evolution, a 35-seat tasting menu restaurant, presents a $175-per-person menu inspired by LeVine's Brooklyn childhood. LeVine operates five other concepts including 317 Main Street in Farmingdale, N.Y., and studied at The Culinary Institute of America.

The property boasts a 223 m² event salon, canal views, and a private Salon Boat. Rosewood Hotels plans future European openings in Greece, Italy, and the UK, adding to their 8 existing properties.
