Hotel transactions in Europe climb to €27bn

💰 European hotel transaction volumes hit €27bn in 2025, with 1,050 properties sold, the strongest year since the pandemic. Transactions increased by 23% from 2024, and 28% above the 10-year average. The UK, Spain, and France contributed 49% of activities, totalling €13.4bn. Spain's volume rose by 52%. Key deals included Brookfield's €776m acquisition of Generator Hostels. The recovery is due to improved hotel performance and stable debt conditions, continuing into 2026.

Fairfield by Marriott Makes UK Debut at British Motor Museum

🏨 In May 2027, the British Motor Museum will see the completion of the UK's first Fairfield by Marriott hotel, offering 142 rooms initially, with potential expansion to 240. Located adjacent to the museum, it aims to boost international visitor and event appeal. Cycas Hospitality will manage the hotel, enhancing support for the museum's residential programs and events. The museum, a charity, uses commercial income to preserve its historic British car collection.

Kirklees’ George Hotel renovation enters next phase

🏨 Kirklees Council announced that work on the Grade II listed George Hotel will speed up next month. By October 2025, 108 hotel rooms, bar, restaurant, gym, and conference facilities will be created, managed by Radisson Hotel Group as Yorkshire's first Radisson Red. Scaffolding is to be set this month, with a construction compound in St George’s Square by March 2026. This renovation is pivotal for Huddersfield's town centre regeneration, supporting local economic growth.

Olivia Immesi to step down as chief executive of Native Places

📁 Olivia Immesi will leave Native Places after 5 years as CEO. She led the company’s expansion into a major UK aparthotel brand and oversaw its acquisition by Numa, resulting in the Native by Numa brand. Before 2021, she held senior roles in London's hospitality sector, including at The Curtain Hotel and Ace Hotel. Her career also includes 6 years at The Hoxton and a business development role at Malmaison. Her next role is unconfirmed.
