📈 In New York, Journey and Tao Hospitality Group revamped dining spaces at The Edge in Hudson Yards. The redesign includes Peak, located on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards, featuring uninterrupted skyline views. New to the venue is Avenue Sky Lounge, inspired by the former Avenue nightclub in Chelsea, closed since 2020. The design reflects Manhattan's skyline, with art deco influences seen in custom tiered lighting, echoing landmarks like the Empire State Building.

Islyn Studio Designs Uchi DC Restaurant Interior with Influences from New Formalist Architecture and Japanese Cinema

🍴 New York-based Islyn Studio, led by designer Ashley Wilkins, created the interiors for Uchi DC, a Japanese restaurant in Washington DC's Dupont Circle. The design draws inspiration from Edward Durell Stone's New Formalist architecture, notably the nearby National Geographic headquarters, and Tokyo's late-night ambiance. Islyn Studio incorporated two-tone wood paneling, clay tiles, and dark stone flooring to echo these influences. The restaurant's spaces each carry unique identities, akin to scenes in a film, enhancing the dining experience.
