Summer 2025 review: A generally sluggish market, but marked regional contrasts

🏨 Over the first seven weeks of summer 2025, hotel activity in France fell by 9.2% compared to 2024. Paris saw declines, while Nice and Cannes grew by +6% and +20% over two years. Coastal and mountain regions saw positive growth, +5% and +7.5% respectively. Visitor numbers increased by 1.2 points, but spending was controlled. Rural and southern destinations gained popularity. The Tour de France positively impacted Lille, Normandy, and Brittany, with RevPAR increasing by +8.5% and +10%.

European hotel performance in July 2025: The rules of the game are changing

🏖️ In July 2025, Eurostat noted a rise in bookings via seasonal rental platforms, continuing from 2024. European hotels faced a 2.3% decline in RevPAR compared to July 2024, with a notable 5.4% drop in the economy segment due to a 4% decrease in average daily rates. Spain's RevPAR grew by 3.3%, while Greece led with a 15.4% increase, despite occupancy challenges. Italy and Portugal saw declines, with Italy's RevPAR dropping by 5.4%.

June 2025: where is the growth for the hospitality industry?

📈 Europe, June 2025: RevPAR increased by 1.4%, with occupancy up 0.5 points, though average prices dropped by 0.8%. Eurozone inflation stood at 2%. Germany saw a 20.3% decline in RevPAR from June 2024, partly due to absence of Euro 2024 tournament impact; German RevPAR is down 1.2% year-to-date. The UK experienced a 0.8% RevPAR decrease, with ADR down 3.4% from June 2024. Hotel performance in southern Europe is also slowing.

PVCP Group: stronger focus on sustainable growth and operational strength

📈 Pierre & Vacances-Center Parcs reported a slight revenue drop of 0.9% to €802.1 million in H1 2024/2025 due to a shift in school holidays. Adjusted EBITDA was -€40.3 million, but they aim for over €180 million for the year. Customer satisfaction rose across brands, with improvements of up to 6 points. The group plans to expand with six new sites in Spain and Andorra by 2025 and will open its first Scandinavian resort in Denmark on June 20, 2025.
