With 20+ years in luxury hospitality, Clarinval has experience with Shangri-La properties in Southeast Asia, The Omnia and Carlton Hotel in Switzerland, and Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois in Basel. He also teaches at École Hôtelière de Lausanne and consults for Oxford Leadership and Forbes Business Council. Prince de Galles, opened in 1929, offers 116 rooms and 43 suites.

Guatemala tourism spending set to rise by 2035: WTTC

🌎 Guatemala's travel sector is projected to see international visitor spending rise from $1.5B in 2019 to $2.6B by 2035, a 72% increase. Visitor spending will grow at a 4.1% CAGR (2025-2035), outpacing overall economic growth. In 2024, the sector will account for $6.1B, up 11% from 2019, and employ over 541,000 people, rising to 703,700 by 2035. Women hold 46.1% of tourism jobs. Taxes generated $1.2B in 2023, or 10% of government revenue.

IHG signs first Iceland property under Candlewood Suites brand

📍 IHG Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with ALVA Capital, is launching its first Candlewood Suites in Reykjavik, Iceland, marking IHG's debut in the country. Over the next 3-5 years, up to 500 rooms will be developed across Iceland, including Holiday Inn Express and Garner hotels. The Reykjavik hotel, located in Hlíðar, will offer 53 units with kitchens, gyms, and a 24-hour market. IHG operates over 410 hotels globally, with 192 more planned. ALVA Capital, founded in 2012, focuses on real estate.

Drury Hotels breaks ground on Plaza Hotel in Mobile, Ala.

Starwood Hotels adds Stéphanie Segaux as VP of development EMEA

COMO Hotels to operate hotel and residences in Melbourne
