Heartwood Collection acquires the Lord Byron in Cambridge

🏠 Heartwood Collection has acquired the Lord Byron in Trumpington, Cambridge, for its national expansion into the pubs with rooms sector. The site will be refurbished and rebranded as the Meadow Lark, featuring 19 bedrooms. This marks Heartwood's first development in Cambridgeshire. Heartwood operates 35 pubs and earned a three-star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association and the best brand title at the 2025 Publican Awards. The design draws inspiration from Trumpington Meadows and the River Cam.

Numa Group appoints Philip Lassman as UK & Ireland MD

📁 Hospitality firm Numa Group appoints Philip Lassman as managing director for the UK and Ireland. Lassman, with nearly 25 years of experience at Accor and IHG, succeeds Olivia Immesi. He will oversee Native by Numa and Numa brands. Numa opened its Chelsea Green in London in December 2025 and plans expansions in Fulham Broadway, Fitzrovia, and Edinburgh in 2026, alongside a refurbishment of Native by Numa Hyde Park.

Elite Hotels names Dominic Osborne as The Grand Hotel GM

🏨 Elite Hotels appoints Dominic Osborne as general manager of The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. Osborne, with nearly 30 years of hospitality experience, previously worked at Ashdown Park Hotel from 2002 to 2008 and recently at Farnborough Airport. The Grand Hotel, a five-star property with 152 bedrooms, is key to Elite Hotels' luxury focus. Recruitment of experienced leaders is crucial for managing seasonal demand and heritage properties. Graeme Bateman, Executive Chairman, praises Osborne's leadership credentials.

Waterside Hotel opens £3m spa development in West Kilbride

🏨 The Waterside Hotel in West Kilbride opened a £3M spa and restaurant development by operator SimpsInns. The project includes six treatment rooms, an indoor thermal area, and an outdoor spa garden with a hydro pool and sauna. The hotel also refurbished its restaurant, now called Dunes, and added 17 guest rooms in October, increasing capacity to 40 rooms. This development follows the refurbishment of the Kyle Suite in late 2025.

Castlebridge Hospitality takes over management of Keele Marriott hotel

🏨 On January 1, Castlebridge Hospitality took over management of Courtyard by Marriott Keele, located at Keele University campus in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire. The hotel, built in 2020 and opened in February 2021, features 150 bedrooms, two meeting rooms for up to 20 people, a fitness center, Scholars Bar and Restaurant, and a Starbucks. This marks Castlebridge's first Marriott-branded and third-party management contract, signaling significant growth for the company.
