Summer 2025 review: A generally sluggish market, but marked regional contrasts

🏨 Over the first seven weeks of summer 2025, hotel activity in France fell by 9.2% compared to 2024. Paris saw declines, while Nice and Cannes grew by +6% and +20% over two years. Coastal and mountain regions saw positive growth, +5% and +7.5% respectively. Visitor numbers increased by 1.2 points, but spending was controlled. Rural and southern destinations gained popularity. The Tour de France positively impacted Lille, Normandy, and Brittany, with RevPAR increasing by +8.5% and +10%.

July 2025: dark clouds gather over the French hotel industry despite the heatwave

The French Riviera hosted 55% international guests, with Americans spending €170 daily. Paris saw a 5.3-point occupancy rise due to American and Asian tourists. Provinces saw RevPAR grow: Normandy +12.6%, Brittany +9.2%. Cities like Paris and Lille faced -14.6% RevPAR declines due to heatwaves over 40°C, redirecting tourists to cooler destinations like Strasbourg and Rouen.

European hotel performance in July 2025: The rules of the game are changing

Summer 2025: A two-tiered tourism
