Islyn Studio combines raw and refined materials in Miami Beach restaurant

🍴 Uchiko restaurant in Miami Beach, designed by Islyn Studio, combines tropical brutalism with Japanese deco. Located in Sunset Harbor, it features a bar made of deep blue-green glass blocks and sea green accents. The interior showcases Japanese influences in woodwork and textiles. Chef Tyson Cole offers a Japanese menu. Islyn Studio, led by Ashley Wilkins, previously had a project longlisted for the 2023 Dezeen Awards in the Restaurant and Bar category.

Ste Marie designs “dreamlike” interior for Toronto luggage store

🏠 Ste Marie designed a spa-like store for luggage brand Monos on Toronto's Ossington Street, near Little Portugal. Influenced by "mono no aware," a Japanese concept, and Portugal's "pousadas," the store features an olive tree, water feature, waxed plaster walls, and stone displays. Rainbow onyx from Turkey and Italian Onice Striato Avorio stone highlight the design. Cove lighting and mirrors amplify the curated collection of luggage and accessories for the mindful traveler.

🏡 The Longfellow Hotel in Portland, Maine, designed by New York's Post Company, is a 48-room boutique hotel operated by Uncommon Hospitality. Influenced by the New England coast's climate and colors, the hotel features interiors that blend contemporary elements with traditional touches, offering turmeric-colored sofas, pale seafoam-green walls, black-and-white penny round flooring, and wide-plank oak floors. The property includes the Five of Clubs bar, Twinflower Cafe, Astraea spa with Scandinavian influences, and a communal lounge on the top floor. Guests can enjoy complimentary bicycle rentals, an electric car service, and eco-friendly initiatives like zero single-use plastics and all-electric appliances. 🌐
