ISLAND WHISPER EXPANDS ITS SIGNATURE LUXURY HAND FANS INTO COMPLETE ARTISANAL HOSPITALITY COLLECTIONS

Island Whisper, an international creative studio specialising in bespoke artistic pieces for hospitality, is expanding its creative world through Island Whisper Atelier — while keeping its handcrafted luxury hand fans firmly at the heart of the brand.

The luxury hand fan remains Island Whisper’s signature and hero piece: a functional work of art designed to capture the identity of a hotel, restaurant, destination or event. Each project begins with a story — architecture, landscape, culture, colours and distinctive local details — which is interpreted through original watercolor artwork and then translated into a handcrafted fan created specifically for that client.

A recent example is Island Whisper’s work for the opening of Harry & Izzy’s in Arizona, where bespoke hand fans were commissioned specifically for the launch. Rather than conventional promotional merchandise, the fans became part of the opening experience: an elegant, useful and memorable piece connected to the restaurant that guests could enjoy during the event and take home afterwards.

Island Whisper has also developed bespoke projects for tourism organisations including Turespaña and Madrid Destino, translating destination identity, culture and visual storytelling into original artwork and handcrafted pieces.

Island Whisper Atelier now takes that same art-led philosophy beyond the fan. One original creative narrative can be interpreted across an artisanal collection of objects designed for different moments of the hospitality experience.

Depending on the project, these collections can include silk scarves and pareos; handcrafted beach bags combining rattan or ata with linen or canvas; embroidered linen pouches and necessaires; slippers and sandals in leather or natural materials; beach towels with subtle artwork details; kimonos and resort robes; coordinated outdoor cushions; bespoke table linens including placemats, napkins, runners and cocktail napkins; engraved teak or wooden trays; custom ata or rattan amenity baskets for rooms, spas and pools; linen or canvas wine and bottle bags; and coordinated picnic or beach sets combining pieces such as a bag, pareo, fan, towel and pouch.

The emphasis is on craftsmanship, natural materials and thoughtful interpretation. Island Whisper Atelier is not conceived as a catalogue of generic merchandise, nor as a way to repeat the same logo or print across multiple products. Each object can be designed differently while remaining part of the same artistic universe.

The hand fan remains the star and creative anchor of that universe. From there, the artwork and story can expand into complementary handcrafted pieces, allowing hotels, restaurants, resorts, destinations and events to create a coherent collection rather than a series of unrelated branded objects.

For hospitality clients, these pieces can live across the entire guest journey — from openings, arrivals and VIP gifting to restaurants, pools, spas, private events, in-room experiences and resort retail. The intention is to create objects guests can touch, use and take home, extending the memory of a place beyond the stay or event itself.

“The hand fan will always be the heart of Island Whisper. It is where our story began and it remains our most distinctive canvas. With Atelier, we can take the same original artwork, craftsmanship and sense of place and allow that story to live across a complete collection — without losing the individuality of each piece,” says Monica Rodriguez, Founder and Creative Director of Island Whisper.
