SmartRental Group launches Malacuna hostel brand in the UK

📍 SmartRental Group entered the UK market in November 2025 with its Malacuna hostel brand, opening locations in Manchester, Liverpool, and Birmingham, adding over 600 beds to its portfolio. Manchester offers 132 beds, Liverpool 362, and Birmingham 126. Headquartered in Madrid, SmartRental operates 5,000 rooms across 59 European properties, reporting a 2024 revenue of €67m (£59m), a 91.5% increase. Expansion plans include new sites in Greece, Italy, France, Barcelona, and Madrid.

Ruby Group expands in Italy with Rome opening

🏨 Ruby Giulia, a new hotel in Rome's Monti district, opened in what was once the Ministry of the Interior on Via Agostino Depretis. It features 164 rooms, a 24/7 bar and café, lounge areas, and a rooftop terrace. This is the second Ruby-branded hotel in Italy, after Ruby Bea in Florence. The Ruby Group currently operates 21 hotels across Europe, with an additional 16 hotels in development or planning stages.

George Davies opens boutique hotel and restaurant in the Cotswolds

🏨 Retail entrepreneur George Davies and his wife, Arlene, opened The House of George, a 10-bedroom boutique hotel and restaurant, in Broadway, Cotswolds. Housed in a 17th-Century building, it features Moda, a 30-cover restaurant with a nine-course tasting menu by chef James Wilson. Lunch menus start at £40. The hotel's design includes British-made furnishings, and its cocktail menu honors Davies's career. Sundays feature roasts from local suppliers. 🌿

Hotel that is home to famous TPC Sawgrass has been sold

🏟 South Street Partners and Dream Finders Homes, alongside equity partners like Pat Battle, acquired the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The resort spans 66 acres, offering 351 hotel rooms, 163 villa keys, 114,000 square feet of meeting space, and a 25,000-square-foot spa. The property includes the two-acre Cabana Beach Club. Plans for renovation are underway. Guests can pre-book tee times 12 months in advance at the TPC Sawgrass courses.

Aman Group to open Janu Al Marjan Island hotel

🏖 Aman Group plans to open Janu Al Marjan Island, the second Janu property in the UAE, on Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah. The resort will feature a 132-key hotel with sea views, wellness center, restaurants, and a Kids’ Club. A residential tower will offer 1- to 5-bedroom residences and standalone villas. Designed by SCDA Architects, it’s near Wynn Al Marjan Island. This follows Janu Tokyo’s 2024 debut and precedes openings in Dubai, Turks and Caicos, and Saudi Arabia.

Meliá Hotels expands in Bahrain and Patagonia

Hyatt reports $49m Q3 net loss due to acquisition costs

🏨 Hyatt Hotels reported a $49m net loss in Q3 2025. Comparable RevPAR rose 0.3%, and net rooms grew 12.1%. Adjusted net loss was $29m, and adjusted EBITDA increased 5.6% to $291m. Gross fees rose 5.9% to $283m, and 5,163 rooms were opened, including Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and Hyatt Regency Times Square. Total debt was $6bn, liquidity $2.2bn. Net income forecast for 2025 is $70m to $86m, with a 6.3% to 7% net room growth.

Zetter Group to open Bloomsbury site in early 2026

PUBLIC West Hollywood to open early next year
